Is ethanol going bye bye.

The farm lobby will have something to do with the success or failure of this bill. Anyone who thinks this is about the environment (or even environmentalists) should pay close attention to who lobbies for or against the bill.

Soybeans give lots of people gas. Now there is a renewable energy source!
 
I would like to see that pass. Ethanol was an "experiment" that didn't pan out... well, for anyone but the ethanol producers. Really not a good thing for the marine industry. No politics intended - time to move on from ethanol.

Amen, and one which, from the beginning, did not pencil out as a net energy saver, or a net substitution of renewable sourced fuel (alcohol) for nonrenewable sourced fuel (petroleum). Bad idea, bad in practice, no good except for corn ptoducers. A product of lobbying pressure.
 
It's going to take along time for ethanol to be removed from gasoline. The interested/affected parties include farmers, equipment manufacturers, oil companies, auto manufacturers, environmentalists, and they will lobby Congress for years. Then laws will need to be changed (not something that usually happens quickly).Then there will be a phase in period of a couple of years if the change actually goes through.

Add the fact that Congress can't get out of it's own way, and well, I won't be holding my breath.
