Inexpensive Boat gadgets...

A while back there was a thread on the best boat gadgets under $20... can't seem to find it with the search function (must be using the wrong selection words). Well, at the recent Market Days (arts/crafts/tools/t-shirts/fishing gear/jewelry/etc), the "Tool Guy" was selling these mesh back supports for $5. Figuring I couldn't lose too much, I bought one. It fits the seat in the C-Dory and doesn't change the overall looks much. The helm seat is back just a bit too far for comfort for me, and I've been using a lumbar pillow for the past couple years. This fits better, allows air circulation, and seems very comfortable... we'll grab Izzy and some lunch and go spend a few hours motoring around, and I'll let you know.

That looks like it would be a perfect fit for me too. Any idea where they might be available, other than the Tool Guy in your neck of the woods?

If I knew what the "Tool Guy's" address was (he sets up at flea markets, swap meets, etc), I'd hook you up. I spent several hours at the helm today, product testing and taking the cat to see dolphins :wink: ... the back support works great!

I don't have pictures but I found these real big twist ties for about $6 that I use to tie my camper back up to the radar arch for transport and when fishing. They are yellow and work just list the little twist ties you find packaged everywhere. They work great and have lasted 3 years already and look to have at least 10 more to go.

You're right about the Search Engine being hard to use to find it. Got NOWHERE! I had to go to the Forums and the General Technical Discussions to find it.

I forgot to use Google!

Just went to the Forum where I thought it was from memory.

Warren (Doryman) showed how to use the Advanced format of Google last year and restrict the Search Field to c-brats.com .

Hope the new site has a finer tuned search engine!

Here's another inexpensive item that gets a lot of use in our boat...

It's the sunscreen circled in red; a left-over from my flying days, it is a "cling stick" piece of flexible plastic that allows you to move it wherever it's needed and you can see through it. We used to get these free at pilot conventions. I have a Rosen visor that I may someday mount in the boat, but this "stick-on" is easy and it works.

I explained this to Pat months ago. Please start speaking to him again and have him tell you about the bright shiny orb in the sky. He didn't believe it, either, but others here have experienced the warmth (a condition where your toes have feeling in them and you perspire... best experienced with a cold drink with a paper umbrella in it). 8)
 
Thanks partner for the heads up on the sun screen. Now I won't have to guess where all the sticks are on my way out the pass for the "Sunset" cruises. Judy will not have to wait so long to start the wine tasting now she doesn't have to hold the latest issue of Lats & Atts in my line of vision as a sun visor.
