Induction Cooking

I keep seeing ads for the NuWave induction cooking package. I wondered if any or many of you use this method. They even have a pressure cooker option. We always have a Honda EU 2000 generator with us so this would give a backup to the sometimes troublesome butane stove. They say it can boil water in 90 seconds. They don't say how much water. I know there has been some discussion about this in times past. I just wondered if people were pleased with the performance. If there are better brands to be had I'd be interested in knowing what really works. Thanks,

We got one of the units, for considerably less at WalMart. None of our current pans worked, but we picked up some nice pans at Target. The frying pan which came with the induction stove, works well for us, and I really enjoy making omelets in it.

I have even wondered about using the EU 1000 on the lower heat settings. I have not yet checked that out with the Kil o watt, but we will be using it in the keys later this year--if you happen to get down that way.

It is a fairly big unit--and the pans may take up storage space. One of our friends converted a bus, and they use only two induction burners and a steam oven for all of their cooking--no propane aboard the bus.

We just purchased a 2007CD25 that was never used and now outfitting it for cruising. We just purchased the NuWave. I believe it will work well for the boat. On house current it boiled water in 75 seconds. I will test it on the boat next week with a 2k Honda generator and will let you know. We also like the features of having a grill and pressure cooker at precise temps. Give us 2 to 3 weeks to run the tests on the boat.

We used an ebay induction stove (single burner) hooked up to our Honda EU2000i this past summer and it worked great. Boils water quickly and with proper cookware, heats evenly.

Was nice to bbq from the dock with lawn chairs set, music playing and fresh dungeness crab along with king salmon caught only 1 hour prior.

Folks staying at Alderbrook Lodge who were walking the docks looked at us in envy as we were eating better than they were in the ritzy resort restaurant.

Nicest part is that you can cook outside and keep the food smells out of the cabin. One of the main reasons I purchased the size of generator that we did and am glad for the decision.

Thanks for all the replies. I'm going to spring for the NuWave deal. It comes with a couple of the induction rated pans. I'll wait on playing the pressure cooker option till later.
