Thanks for the nice comments everyone!
Boris, RE: Valkyrie in Paradise photo. We were asked the same questions that you mentioned. We love it when the "big boys" ask those type of questions. The real fun ones to answer are when fuel consumption and draft come up!
Pete, RE: Our frozen country cabin. The very contrast that you mentioned between that sub-album and "Valkyrie in Paradise" is why we are HERE! Marcia, my SC-born wife, loves the cold and snow, but she didn't flinch when I suggested that she fly down here for a few weeks.
Mike, Thanks for the "paradise" suggestion using your favorite palm trees. We had planned on using the bridge for some running shots, but your suggestion really worked out well.
Roger, RE: fish photos. There are some in our FL Keys sub-album, but none of the big, nasty, sexy predatory fish that fishers come to bag in the Keys. We went out every day and had fish for dinner every night, but nothing really in size or quantity. We fished the back country, the bridges (from Valkyrie), the patch reefs, the deep drops to 300 feet and trolled the Gulf Stream. Water temps are in the upper 60's and we are told that tuna, dolphin, cobia and others need temps in the mid to upper 70's to move in closer to shore.
Strange thing, though. At every bait shop we heard, "Hey, fishing's great!
HERE"S exactly what you need to really bring them in!"
When we were staying at the Bahia Honda SP Marina we ran into professional guides and their clients every day and often talked to them for advice and to see how they did for the day. There were times when they had a few nice mackeral and other times when we came back with nice yellowtail and trigger fish and they got skunked. It seesm to be a crap shoot this time of year due to the extended cold weather that they had the last few months. I'll try to post other pics later today.
I'll try to post a bit more of our travels later today in our
"Anchor Light" thread.
Best wishes,
Nick and Marcia
