I just ordered a Cape Cruiser

No I just did it myself.... I'm being nice as I can, getting tired of this!

Darn, had to go back and look, wish Mike had used his 2000'th post on me and had is boat confiscated...

Best day, I told you so........:)

I for one will restate my long held belief, that I have openly stated from day one (sounds all official don't it??) That this site should welcome cape cruisers OWNERS ( SORRY PAT) with open arms and help them form a sub site within this site. We should also welcome them to our gatherings so we can compare boats and even have races or some kind of competition that we can rig and bet their A$$'$, there by making them buy all the beer. The losers will also be made to wash my boat. Whos with me???

Certainly Bill seems to be a stand up fellow. I look forward to the pleasure of meeting him one day soon and enjoying his company at the dock... as I would anyone boating.

Although, for the record, I really do wish I could afford the 62' Nordhavn. Feel free to donate to the effort...

It's getting so I don't even like my own site. If I hadn't invented the place, didn't maintain the forums and own the domain names I would quit this forum and make myself a friendly one.

Here's the deal. We are either going to be a C-Dory specific forum with a bunch of friends for members or a wide-open forum with a bunch of sponsors and ads. Take your pick. There are plenty of the latter if you need to see an example. And the latter might not be so bad - then me and Bill could afford one of them fancy new boats.

I think it's wonderful that the folks who bought the Cape Cruiser got the boat that fit them best. I think everyone should get the boat that fits them the best. Relative to the Bayliners, Whalers, Seaswirls, Thunderjets, ad infinitum, the number of C-Dorys in the world is very small. We just happen to have the best public boating forum around because we have so many great people on board. I have no doubt there are many private boater forums on the web that have all the best traits of this one. But I have yet to see another as good as this one open to the public. Most of them start that way, and then they get too big and have thread after thread of senseless sniping like this one is quickly becoming.

I also think it is wonderful that Tom took Mr. Stuberg for a boat ride. I am sure Mr. Stuberg is a nice guy, and I am very disappointed that he did not choose to display that part of himself on here. But that’s the way she goes.

Joe got most of his explanation right, but the chronology is a bit off. Greg and I were booted off there because we formed the original C-Brat site. One of the best things the internet ever did to me. So I encourage anyone who wants something different than what we have found to be successful on the C-Brat forum to get out there and make it. The World Wide Web is huge. I like my little corner of it just the way it is.

Hey, I suppose we could all go to tht and start a thread called, What's better, "Suzuki or Yamaha" or my favorite - " The Trophy whatever looks pretty good - should I buy?"
Only kidding. If you've been there, it can get REAL fugly.
I looked over a 25 closely today and I like.

Nope Tom, I'm not with you on this one. This is a C-Dory site, too hard to form a "subsite", they can get one of their own, I'm sure we'll gladly link to it, and that's why I'm here. If we get too far afield we'll become like IBOATS. If you don't know what I mean, go look at it. I joined and got tired of it because it went too far afield.

Let's let 'em look at it, ask questions, welcome them, but keep this site C-Dory specific.

hey I just post here . its not my site in any way shape or form. iam just a freindly kind of guy who needs his boat washed. only good thing about asking my son to wash the boat it that he "remebers" his home work really fast.

Oh boy, I knew we were in trouble when two Californians posted about Cape Cruisers and quickies on the same day. I figured Tom would come out in favor of discussing both, some would want to ban references to quickies on this site and others would want to ban Cape Cruisers. I personally would like to discuss quickies and drift boats, but that would just be me discussing my misspent youth. As soon as someone mentioned S****rg, we were really in trouble.

Poor Bill was just feeling good about his new boat and wanted to discuss it with someone. His wife is probably tired of hearing about it, and there are only two other Cape Cruiser owners in the world, so he came here. He didn't know that he was reigniting a family feud.

So welcome Bill. You should come to a C-Brat gathering. As soon as everyone is on their boat and full of David and Pat's fine brew they get along a lot better. You'll have a load of soused C-Brats in your cockpit talking until dawn about what's wrong with your boat and why you should own a Dodge diesel, a C-Dory and a rat terrier.

I knew i like you lyle, I just did not know how much until you mentioned drift boats. i hardly get to use mine any more. How are you at boat washing??

Wow, tough crowd. After years of running bass boats when I was in the Marine Corps (including "salt water" prepping them and running them looking for Grouper and speckled trout out of Beaufort NC - dont ask!) I bought a 21' Bayliner Explorer when I moved to Alaska. Heavy, underpowered with a 4 cyl Volvo Penta, serious rot in the "Alaska" bulkhead, no deck space etc, etc. etc. it was all I could afford and I loved that boat (memories of cruising into town with a SE Brown bear cape draped across the bow pulpit for effect come to mind - ha!).

A divorce, a stint living on a 36' fishing trawler over a harsh winter, a love affair with a 33' cutter rigged 13 ton behemouth of a sail boat, and then 6 years of fishing the @#ll out of a Bayrunner skiff brought me to a C-Dory. I love the Toland design and enjoy this site for the ideas and general diversion it gives me. Someday; maybe a GrandBanks Europa, now, a 25 year old Angler Classic that pleases my wife and I to no end.

Having said all that, this is a C-Dory site and I guess I am of the opinion that if you have a Cape Cruiser you are welcome to the site, share general ideas about how to enjoy this type of boat design, but dont try to interject Cape Cruiser specific dialog; its not polite.

I get many ideas for my C-Dory from sailing web sites but am respectful of their venue which is always a good idea. Congrats on the new boat and I would love to see it some day.

Rule number one for networks - Don't piss off the sysop.
Moreover, if this was a democracy I would send Mike and Bill my proxy and let them vote it for me, I think they do a perfect job. This is a great site because of them and because C-Dories do attract the nicest people.
Now I gotta go ask some electrical questions.

Regards,
