I hate foot ball and the sea hawks.

Starcraft,

If you want something else to hate - Outdoor Emporium has been closed the past few Sundays because of the home games. Not sure if they were selling their parking lot or what not.

Why are they doing this??????????????? the game is not even here.

The answer seems to be they are closing the boat show because its managers believe there would be very low attendance. Much of Seattle will be closed Sunday. It's not that they need the stadium for something else -- it's that everybody but Tom will be home watching football.

Seattle Times article: http://seattletimes.com/html/localnews/ ... nsxml.html

And it's not just Seattle. Denver (where they wisely have not scheduled a boat or tractor show for this weekend) is also shutting down for the game.

CBS story: http://denver.cbslocal.com/2014/01/29/c ... uper-bowl/

Now, this next piece is anecdotal, but interesting: Our houseguest has been working at one of the boat show booths all week. She says booth owners complained to the management about very low turnout during last year's Super Bowl (and the Seahawks weren't even in it). They expected even lower attendance this year, which is why they're ending the show a day early.

If you think of this as a referendum on show vs. Seahawks, it's pretty clear how the majority of local boaters would vote. Truth be told, Super Bowl Sunday is an unscheduled national holiday.

Sorry we're wrecking your day, Tom. But you're welcome to come down to Kenmore, have a few beers, and watch some great football. You can boo if you like. But you may change your mind.

Go Hawks!

Bingo.

Plus, how many days or times does one need to attend the show? I mean seriously. Tell me Tom, have you been there every day, from opening to closing, just wandering the aisles? The Seahawks are in...the city and it's residents are excited....we football fans are too. If this is THE biggest problem in the world to you (as it appears by the constant rants), may I suggest you look in the mirror and ask yourself some hard questions.....

Hey Tom, look at it this way. It's a chance to take down the Christmas lights while Susan is watching the game. She'll be so happy when the Seahawks win she'll probably forgive you. :hot

Mark it's very clear as a foot ball fan you take my rantings far more serious then I do. And no I have not been to the show at all because I was going to have three days this weekend  Oh and to see the other side is the first step to compassion. I see why everyone wants to see the game and back their team. I was just hoping that it would not get it the way of the many people who don't care about it at all. I have watched about 5 super bowls in my life and maybe 10 games total.

Marty- the lights go taken down on time this year. And the only two people that value foot ball less then me are Susan and my dad.

Pandion- As I have a football fanatic living with me right now and NO cable or broadcast tv hook up in the house I might take you up on that if I can wear a bronco jersey. I can't name a single player on the broncos or sea hawks but someone has to take the other side.

Wow Tom, old buddy, you really need to go out fishing. :teeth

Just think, after the Seahawks win the Super Bowl on Sunday, you won't have to worry about football for another 6 months!!!

Your Old Fishing Buddy

One day, I hope that my life and this world are so trouble free that I can let myself get so worked up about a football game causing a yacht show to end early.

Now, that's a first world problem for you!

I've enjoyed this thread! It's fun seeing how riled up everyone gets over one guys opinion!

Tom had plans for Sunday, was REALLY looking forward to it and now they're cancelled. I hear yah buddy that sucks! I'd be frustrated too in your shoes, but instead Im stoked.. GO HAWKS!!!

I'm an old fan, I haven't missed many games in at least the last 10 years except when the salmon are hot then Im tuned in with the marine radio. I'd rather fish then watch football anyday, duh!

Its all in good fun. Carry on! I've got my popcorn popped

Wow, folks do get riled up - its not like Tom was talking about the Green Bay Packers, it's just the Seahawks!!

Just kidding - I'll be pulling for the Seahawks this weekend and we don't have a boat show because it'll probably be freeken snowing again!!!

Go Hawks!!

You know, you've got to love c brats I'm sitting at the boat show waiting for Sam to give his talk and reading this and the cat articles, it makes me think that we'll me talking about this on Friday night over a glass of IPA

I was in the 80's. Rice and Montana are still the classiest act ever in foot ball.

Niners 5 super bowls
Greenbay 5 super bowls
Dallas 5 super bowls

15 our of 47 wins to only 3 teams. No wonder the hawks have not won one. They can't get a turn.

There are some of the best topics being discussed today, I needed a lift and Tom has given me one. Cats is the other and don't forget the darn stripe.

Tom, the reason the show is short one day is MONEY, and you don't have a chance in the nether region of winning. The NFL probably makes more money on SBS than the rest of the year, so they're not gonna change. And the boat show wants to spend as little money as possible. Do you think all those people that don't work Sunday are going to get paid?

Go fishing, you weren't going to spend money at the boat show anyway.

Positively my last rant for the day. Unless I run across another topic as good as this. Tom, you made my day. I'm trying to fix the boat and it isn't going well.

Boris

Well, at least we'll all be doing the same as Tom on Sunday, jumping up and down and stamping our feet. God I love the important stuff, the Seahawks, cats, the stripe, and of course, this place.
