How about updating your "Boats for Sale" Area?

Keep it as is.

We will.

The other "protection" we have in place to guard against stale ads is auto-pruning. There are zero ads listed in the For Sale forum that have gone more than 90 days without activity in the thread.

If nobody notifies us that a boat has sold, and nobody posts follow up questions or comments, the entire For Sale thread will automaitcally disappear after 90 days of inactivity.
So if a person has a boat for sale and there is no activity on the thread, he should make a post that the boat is still available sometime before the 90 days is up.

Just send them two over to the Intercoastal Dumping post, we can straighten em out! Mike on Huda Thunkit

Uh, B~C...I think you just got kicked out.

I try hard to hide my disability (especially at work) but it's not easy. As a youngster I was diagnosed with SARS. This tragic, untreatable genetic disorder affects millions of people world wide. There are no treatments, support groups or fancy celebrity spokesmen for this affliction, the millions that have it just suffer and try to contain it.
It's not easy living with the Smart Assed Response Syndrome and I sometimes have difficulties at work, especially at meetings...case in point, the Pres. had the Fine Arts/ theater building demolished, upon opening the bids and discovering they didn't have enough money for a new building, my SARS induced response of solving both the parking and theater building problem by building a drive-in theater was not well received.
So, if we can't embrace the many colorful threads that weave the fine tapestry that is the Brats.....I'm going to sick the A.C.L.U. on you :)

The moderators and the group are doing an outstanding job!

Can't remember...... Stuff by visiting this site daily and the cure is to keep returning for the latest stuff.

Wealthywine, As a fellow wanna be C-Dorian, I can understand your frustration w/ the listings. I wade through them almost daily hoping that THE BOAT will appear. Additionally, I do not know how long you lurked (not a bad thing) around this site before you joined just one month ago. It would be interesting to know. However, it appears by the tone of the post that started this thread that you do not have a firm grasp with this site and the people who run it. This site and the people who run it are dedicated to the furthering the C-Dory sport. They do a very fine job of it and all for no charge. You will not find another site including the factory's that explains more about the nuances (good and bad) of these fine boats. This site has not always listed the boats that are available (at least not so promenently on the front page). While postings are sometimes not meticulously maintained, I for one am glad to have it as a reference and am thankful for the folks who run and all of those who participate in the site.

When I first read it I thought that your point was valid. I still do. However, I found the tone to be a bit objectionable. Thanks for your contribution and I look forward to seeing more posts in the future.

As a "newbie" here I couldn't have said it any better myself.

Boy this stuff is starting early. Usually it's January or February before attitudes deteriorate to this extent.

The new feature that I especially like is that now it's not only northern C-Dory owners who are frustrated by the weather and not being able to get out on their boats that are contributing. Folks that don't even have a C-Dory yet are letting out their frustrations.

B-C, SARS was a contact sport where I grew up. Or maybe ours was a special school for people with that disability and nobody told me.

I consider you to be a professional in the sport playing with amateurs. Since people can't see you, you may need to do some kind of wind up so that people who don't know how to play don't get injured.

Good catch Bess-C, I never considered the winter thing. I was blambing the moon phase but I think we all have the full moon at the same time don't we? No full moon here! I guess I am probably not tuned into the winter thing yet, I work on the Alaskan north slope ( 1/2 dozen miles from the arctic ocean) and we still have daylight and it was 40 degrees here today as well. Possibly winter is coming from the south this year, Mike on Huda Thunkit :idea

Well, well, well, look at all the flotsam that's choking up this thread.

And this is not at all like most other sites.
Let's see, there's craigslist (same engine, similar use), coastsidefishingclub (same concept), continuouswaves (same concept)...I really don't see your "not at all like most other sites".

Right up to the last parenthetical barb, perhaps.
So, is there's a gauge you monitor that we should know about? Perhaps he meant is as a joke but forgot to put little smiley faces? Would that make you feel better?

If there is a vote to change the for sale section then I'm definitly in favor of it. Why put in the effor of check to see if it's sold or not? Have a delete feature and retire after 90 days. Simple and no headaches.

Forget about new ideas, especially if you already have a CD and can't even understand what the buyers go through looking for one. Just kick your legs up and enjoy shooting down people with suggestion. Oh, let me rephrase that...suggestions that are written a little different than the way you like to read it.

Oh, heck, forget tying. It's too much work. Let's just wrap people that we don't like in US flags and ship them to Iraq. One way ticket, baby! 1/2 the price!!!

:? :?:
I'm still looking for a 22' Cruiser in the Pac NW...

I have made a deal on this site to buy my 2nd cd-22 this year, I have to tell you that this site has been my lifesaver, I have bought both boats site unseen and haven't seen the one im picking up from retired marine mike yet either. But I have to tell ya, the people on this site are wonderful, sometimes sarcastic and smart ass but its all in good fun. you get alot more than a boat when you come to the c-brats, and I can relate to the wanting the 25 but the wallet says 22. We only had the Hammerhead for 6 months before some low life stole and stripped her. But this summer on that little boat gave my family and i memories that nobody can ever take away.
You know mike sold me the boat for 2 grand less than another cash offer he had just because of attitude. I cant wait to meet him and I think I have made a life long friend in the process. The guys run this site out of love of the adventure and friendship. so what if the ads arn't currant, they will get around to it when there not busy having fun on there boats.
I just want to thank them for having this here for us. :thup
Great job guys, and never forget, we may be slow but we do poor work

Im sure they would love it if someone were to monitor the ads and inform them of when one sells so that they can archive the add :idea ANY VOLUNTEERS

My, my, louis. You don't sound as friendly as you were when you needed help.

And yes, there is a gauge I use, and yes again, you should know about it. It is common sense guided by common decency. Works for me.

Loius, you may want to reread the home page again. If you are having a hard time finding it maybe I can help "No rules, just be nice"

Maybe the humor and the irreverent style of the members here is not for you, maybe it is, but please refer to the only rule of the site. That is the only reason I say this to you in this way.

Fred

I have both sold a boat and bought a boat using the "for sale" listing. Like everything else on the C-Brats site, I am very greatful for the listings. My only suggestion would be to have the auto delete every 30 days. It will be no problem for owners of unsold boats to relist. Thanks again.

Agreed...but I split the difference and set it to 60, which killed 9 listings.

I agree with you 100%. I'm in complete agreement with you there. If the so called old timers gave the same courtesy to the first poster we wouldn't be here. Let's remember that.

My, my, louis. You don't sound as friendly as you were when you needed help.
No, when I see someone being attacked I don't sit around. I show decency and stand up for them.

Have a great boating weekend all. I'll be out rock fishing and salmon fishing. There's always friendly people out on the water.

Louis,

Stick around and get acquainted and you will find we are really humans. Wide variety of folks on here, all ages, all walks of life, and most with a common goal - enjoy our C Dory boats, enjoy the comradship, and exchange information on our boats and equipment. Many of us are personal friends, so much of the chatter that may seem offensive to you is the same kind of thing you would find at any campground gathering. And we do that too -- with a lot of pleasure.

Your comment on Iraq was a personal hurt for me, and I think was out of place. This is a C Dory boat forum.

You are certainly welcome here, pull up a chair and sit a spell.

Sawdust

Louis, so who is it exactly that was being attacked on this site?
No, when I see someone being attacked I don't sit around. I show decency and stand up for them.
If you're speaking of Wealthywine and his infamous first post, you may want to reread it. I definitely felt an edge and attitude to his post.

Let's keep this area current and up to date (or I will end up buying my first C-dory elsewhere).

Sounds like an ultimatum to me. But that's ok, he was obviously frustrated and if you keep reading, steps have been taken by the admins to correct the problem. The administrators and moderators do a great job on this site and certainly pay attention to suggestions when given, especially when they are suggested in a helpful, nice manner.

As for friendly,
I'll be out rock fishing and salmon fishing. There's always friendly people out on the water.

This site and the those who participate are incredibly friendly and generous with their thoughts, ideas and general love of the C-Dory. Why don't you try attending a CBGT sometime, great fun and great people! There are many posts where current C-Dory owners offer to show-off their boats and offer sea trials to complete strangers who have only the common interest in the C-Dory to welcome them onto their boat with open arms. I for one appreciate the wit, humor and sarcasm some (see B-C) choose to display here. It's a nice break after reading all the serious (albeit valuable) posts of some of the experts on the board. All in all, this site is a great mixture of a lot of different C-Dory owners (and wannabes) who's common interest is the love of the little boat we call a C-Dory.
