Honda 90hp working RPMs

I finally had the opportunity to take my new to me 22 Cruiser yesterday. I enjoyed a mid-afternoon that turned into a sunset cruise which turned into a overnight. I ran the engines for about 3 hours at around 3,000 RPMs unsure of how much higher could I go. I looked at the engine's manual, but it didn't mention anything about optimal RPMs.

What do you consider optimal RPMs without causing the engine harm?

BTW, the ride on the Chesapeake was quite smooth and I was delighted to realize how much more usable room there is on this boat compared to my Chaparral 240 Signature Cruiser.

Also, if you know of anyone looking for a 1999 Chaparral 240 Signature Cruiser, I have one for sale real cheap :-)

Thanks,
Nash

My 2014 H90 runs 17knts at 3800rpms and 20 knts at 4100 w clean bottom. Was told by Honda mech that the Vtech kicks in at around 4200. Anyway no fear in going to at least 4500. Of course prop specs play a big role too on speed/rpms.

The manual for the BF90D says between 5000 and 6000 rpm at WOT. Mine does 5600 when near sea level. I have a 13.5x15 AL prop on it.

Normal cruise for me in calmish conditions is just above 4K, which gives about 18 mph. WOT on flat water gives ~29 mph.

I had twin 2014 Honda BF90s on a 26 Venture which ran 5800rpm WOT giving me
a top speed of 36 mph. Never needed more.

Aye.

My 2006 Honda 90 WOT is 6,000 RPM light, and about 5400 RPM in cruising status. I usually run about 4200 when loaded. No problem running these motors in the 4,000 RPM range.
