I bought a Cdory 16 cruiser last summer from a Gentleman in NC.
This has fast become my all time favorite boat. I use it for Amateur Underwater Archaeology. Using Side scan sonar and ROV operations. When not hunting for my own interests I volunteer time and equipment to a Local River Rescue unit.
This boat is perfect as I can launch and run in creeks rivers lakes and the Chesapeake Bay. Kind of like a swiss army knife. Super easy to trailer as well. And a bit warmer in the winter than an open rescue boat.
Im so impressed, that I wanted a bigger boat and decided to go with the CDory 25.
I found a very nice 2005 and hoping its ready for deliver this coming week.
I see lots of long cruising on the Chesapeake for this summer.

Congrats on boats. Any interesting finds while using sonar? Artifacts relics ect. Im probably buying a minelab underwater detector,when waters warm. Want to use scuba and look around boat when anchored. Need to have another hobby besides fishing. There are enough places to be out of the spotlight empty beaches ect no interest in crowded beaches.Will Look for long lost Items, old bottles with metal stoppers,coins ,jewelry, anchors ect. Wife likes to find beach glass then make pendants earings ect. Lake Erie has a beach glass festival end of this month. She also has a rock tumbler,to tumble agates,old glass to a polished finish. She wire wraps pendants they are nice finished products. I get the job of drilling stones and glass.
 
Larry, if you want to dive on some wrecks - come on over to Lake Erie's graveyard - Long Point. There are hundreds of wrecks around the tip, including an airplane. It is only about 30 miles due north from Erie Pa. About another 20 from the tip to Port Dover. A 16 year old girl(Annaleise Carr) from Dover swam across in a little over 22 hours in 2014. Of coarse it is open water with nasty habits so you would need a good weather window and full fuel tanks. When the wind/chop gets up on Erie you can use a lot of fuel going up and down instead of anywhere fast, so you should not count on getting any particular mpg.

I use a JW Fishers Pulse 8x underwater detector. Pretty much just junk and newer coinage at this point. Like You said. I also do out of way areas. Have found a few boats. Need to check them closer. Wind has been way too brisk to work anything where Im needing to be.

Where do you launch? Are you still going to trailer?

We spent about 18 years boating the Chesapeake. First boat in 1988 was a 28 Carver we kept at Charlestown. It was an easy drive down from Lancaster. Later we had it at Skipjack Cove on the Sassafrass and kept the son's 13 Whaler at the back of the slip. Later we bought a house in Chestertown, went Whaler across the board and kept them at our own dock. It was a truly great place to boat with kids. Today I confess I would miss the clear deep water of the PNW but I also miss the sunsets from the dock with g+t in hand.

Thanks for doing the SAR work. Fortunately we never needed the help but when a Bay thunderstorm hits every boate is glad to know there can be help around.
