Help Fluid Marine?

The last 2 C- Dories we unloaded last Mon. were the best we have seen in years .Cabinetry improvements , good fit and finish , happy dealer and happy customers . The new guard is doing everything right as far as I can tell . Rich Reynolds is still there , Brett is still there . And the C Brats are the best owners group on the planet .
And if I read a few of the posts correctly ,perhaps I should just jump out a window now .
And others would have me go take a slow cruise on my C Dory with the T.V. turned off, talk a few sailors into being C Dory folks all the while knowing that all things will pass .
Ill take option # 2 !

When I bought my CD in 1983 and brought it home to Alaska I had people constantly asking me about it and I gave people rides. I know of 4 solid sales from that and 2 of them have upgraded to larger CD models. As old as my boat is I still get looks and questions. It is fun to do and gives one pride in owning a CD.
Good luck to Fluid Marine.

Well, Roger, I have to say, we were about the last boat left at Langley when Tom pulled up in his Starcraft and took a good look at the CD22 Daydream...but what the hey, whatever...

I know that 4 people who have been on rides with me have bought boats. Some had never been on a c-dory and other just needed a ride to make the final jump. One is still a warm weather warrior and lover of dolphins.
and if I remember rightly, it was not long after I took Tom out fishing on the Sensei that Tom ordered his 22...lol...

Great to hear some of the QC issues are getting to where they should be from the C-Dory factory. That for sure is music to my ears. Glad to hear Rich and his son Brett are still up there too. Both have always been very nice to talk with during the visits up to Auburn, WA and at the shows in Seattle.

Marc, I agree with you about some of the post of late... I get on here to get away from the thunderous pounding of doom and gloom...and all that election BS..... I have again been Blessed and fortunate enough to not have a bunch of my long range livelihood in the markets...and those of us who do many of which can wait her out a bit. ...hopefully.

And Marc...do not go jumping out windows down there.

The ground is too soft to kill ya; you would only mess yourself up enough as to not be able to enjoy some more good fishing, and most importantly....who would feed your pets (sorry...after my little happy birthday present...can't recall the dog and cat's names...).....who would feed them there regular doses of sushi?

Rich and Brett if ya poke your heads in here now and then...glad to hear you are doing well.

We just got back in from 3 days on the Tom Cat (shake down for next week and Gulf Coast Cruise). I did introduce at least a half a dozen people to the C Dory concept--some might be down sizing and some might be upsizing-and some going laterally.

Probably C Dory is prositioned as well in the market as any company currently--since the boat is economical to store, can be run as a displacement cruiser at sail boat speeds, or allow you to go fast if necessary. Agree, the the current owners are the best salesmen which are available.

As for how all of this falls out--only time will tell, and no one has a crystal ball. Some good companies will go down--and may be resorected - other companies know what it takes to continue a limited production and meet the needs of the public.

You are just seeing the start of a Very Bad Time in the US, WHETHER YOU BELIEVE IT OR NOT WE ARE IN A RECESSTION PEOPLE...
IT MIGHT BE OVER IN 2-5 OR EVEN 10 YEARS.

All I can say is HOLD ONTO YOUR MONEY………..

One thing, I might not last 10 more years, Maybe not 2-5 years. I can not afford to wait for the economy to come back. Lucky Fin will be in my yard before the end of the month. Us older guys got to getter done now. I will spend my Daughters in heritance.

Ranger has a 4 months wait for a boat. Seems they are doing well. Must be a lot of old farts out there just like me. I'll pay for it as I use it, like electricity

When we bought our first C-Dory in 2003 at the SBS, I asked Rich if he owned a C-Dory. He grinned and said "I own them all." I had heard that Brett was still working there but I did not know that Rich was too.

I don't think that means very much. A 4 month backlog can disappear in 4 months if the orders stop coming in. Let's all wait and see what shakes out over the next year before we pat anyone on the back for a job well done.

I do think that C-Dory is better positioned than Ranger due to their price point, but both will be competing with used boats and there are a lot more 22's and 25's out there than Rangers.

The first C-dory I saw was in the Wal-Mart parking lot in Prince Rupert BC . She was a Minnesota or Wisconsin boat headed to Alaska. Her owner took the time to show her to me. There are now two in Quesnel BC , 10 hrs from the salt, 'Reel Knotty' and Lucky 7's. The C-Brat site had a lot to do with my decision to by a C-Dory. Thanks everyone. Anywhere I go she collects a crowd and I'm more than happy to extoll her virtues. Now if we just had a dealer within 500 miles.
