Helm displacement

Hi Gang,

I am replacing the CCU unit on my Garmin GHC 10 autopilot unit. I have to configure the new unit using the dock side wizard to match my boats specs.. I need to know the helm displacement value on my Sea Star Hydraulic steering system. I have a 2006 Cdory 25. The manual states the value is usually written on the helm pump. No luck in locating the value, the manual states the default value is 1.7 in 3. Thanks in advance.

Looking a the Garmin GHC 10 autopilot unit, it appears to need a motor driven hydraulic pump. The ad I looked at said "hydraulic pump not included."

That being said, what you need is the displacement of the pump the Garmin unit is driving, not the manual pump on the Sea Star steering. You don't say what pump you bought.

The helm pump is static when the autopilot is steering the boat. At least the ones I've seen are. If I've got it wrong, find it in your heart to forgive me.

I believe what the Garmin set up calls for is the displacement of the ram---not the helm pump. As Boris notes, the helm is passive in the auto pilot mode. You can figure the ram displacement by looking at the table which Brent provided:
All of the rams on the C Dory outboard ( with Sea Star, not Bay Star) are going to be 8.3 cu inches, or 133.6 cu inches.

Thank you for everyone's feedback. I found the system steering capacity on a decal at the base of the steering wheel. It stated Sea Star steering system capacity 1.7 cu. in.. I enter that capacity in the dock side wizard set up. Everything seems to be working well. The GHC 10 heading display now matches the GPS heading from the plotter. The offset radar overlay is now aligned with the plotter landmass. Thanks again for your input.
