Happy Thanksgiving guys!!

I'm thankful for many things (as I'm sure we all are) and our special group of Brats is one of them. I really love all of our different backgrounds, ages and geographical locations coming together to form a tight group. One day I'll make it to a C Brat gathering (even if I have to fly there, as Marc from Wefings told me to do)!!

Cheers.

And back to you Jason, and out to all the rest. Thanks for starting this thread, Thanksgiving as always been my favorite holiday. And yes, I enjoy the turkey sandwiches for a few days after, but mostly ... no not the football either.

I like to stop and think about the things we take for granted most of the time. How about sleeping indoors, or having the lights come on when we flip the switch. When was the last time you thought about what it would be like to travel with the family to Grandma's house without 4 wheels, maybe on a 125cc scooter, or take a bus the size of a VW bus, with 50 of your neighbors when you got to go to work. Or had to decide to keep the chicken because it might lay a few more eggs, and 1 egg a day is better than a chicken one day and nothing the next few days. Or.... . . . ?

CBRATS is a great place, filled with good folks from various walks, all with a common interest. Some call it the pub, some the site but for me, it feels like family, and I am thankful every day for Mike and Bill for what they do here and for all the Brats that keep it interesting. Jason, you need to do it. Come on out to the big CBGT at Friday Harbor and you will never look at this site the same again. Go on a group cruise, and make friends for life.

Happy Thanksgiving to each one,

Harvey

Yes, Happy Thanksgiving to all! With all that is happening in the country and the world it can be hard to find respite anywhere. C-Brats has provided that respite to Mary and I. Folks in this forum are obviously very diverse in so many ways, but we all share a common love for our boats and boating in general. The overt sharing, problem-solving, commradarie, is absolutely welcoming and wonderful. And the C-Brats get-togethers are such fun!!! We've been lucky enough to attend several of them in various parts of the country and we have never been disappointed. What a great group of folks! Each has it's own unique feel and we absolutely love attending them. A special thanks to those of you who take on this organizational task! And a special thanks to our C-Brats organizers for allowing us all to enjoy this fabulous website. And finally, thanks to all of you for your tone of friendship and support to all of us - owners, wannabe owners, everyone... Happy Thanksgiving!

Rob (& Mary)

Jason , Well said to all C-Brats on both sides of the Border. We have a special family for sure, and something to be thankful for which I guess I never thought of in terms of thanksgiving. Roger Juntunen

The crew of "Thisaway"(Thataway). to all of our C Brat Family we give thanks for this extended family. We just finished having 14 of our close extended family in Pensacola over for dinner. Most of these folks we have know for 25 years. Several couples we have known for 55 years--friendships built thru boating, which lead to all of us coming from Calif. to the Foreign state of Florida!

I did something which I have never done before, but I felt it was appropriate for the time and place: I gave a 10 minute talk about why we celebrate the "Thanksgiving" of the Pilgrims. There had been many other voyages across the seas to America--and I outlined these over the many centuries. These were voyages of conquest, or commerce. The Pilgrims came for freedom from religious persecution. I read the Mayflower Compact, and explained what it meant. How they established law in this new and hostile land. How they felt they were not subservient to a "dread king" but to God as freemen.

I gave a prayer of "Thanksgiving" which I will share with you, since I do not believe it to be specifics to any one religion. (And we have many religions in our "family")

"Thank Thee God for giving us this bountiful and free land; for giving us the tolerance to allow us to make a peaceful transfer of Government in tumultuous times. Thank Thee for giving us, as humans, the ability to accept those who differ in their view, their customs, and their religions in our communities, and to include them in our wonderful country.

Thank Thee for our friends all gathered, for those who are elsewhere, and for those who are in Heaven, and looking down upon us.

Thank Thee for this food, freedom, friendship and bounty of this land. Bless us and the rest of those in this Country.

A-men."

After we had started the meal, one of our group reminded us, that 31 Thanksgivings ago, we had flying fish for our dinner meal in Barbados Harbor, after taking 17 days and a few hours to cross the Atlantic Ocean, a distance of about 3000 miles as we sailed. The Mayflower took 66 days!
