We're off with all the family to a cabin in the mountains tomorrow, for a fresh snow and a white Christmas, and no internet up there. Therefore:

Have a great holiday season, everyone! Merry Christmas! And a Happy New Year to all!

Merry Christmas El and Bill,

Have a good time with the family in the snow. We have a white Christmas in Red Lion this year. We will be heading to Florida on Jan. 1st in the Roadtrek. We like the warm.

God Bless

Fred, Pat and Mr. Grey(the cat)

We are clsoing the doors tonight to enjoy the Christmas weekend.

I hope that everyone has a wonderful holiday, whichever one you may celebrate, and that the opportunity for time with friends and family is plentiful.

Merry Christmas!

:xlol

Susan and I are off in the morning for a 10 hour drive to Buhl idaho to see her folks. We wish all of you a merry christmas and a happy new year. for those traveling be careful and have fun.

The "Sea Shift" crew wishes all of you a Joyous Holiday Season. Since, I was scheduled to work on Christmas Day prior to my medical incident and am now out on sick leave until cleared by the Dr., we will spend the day at the fire hall, joining in on Christmas Dinner with my firehouse C-Shift work partners. If they get any calls during the meal preparation we'll be there to keep the ovens and stove burners going so they get a hot meal.

Safe travels to all of you on the road!

P.S. I went out to the shop today and sat at the helm of "Sea Shift" and made "motor noises" just to keep in shape.... :xlol .

Merry Christmas to C-Brats and their families from the crew of the C-Squirt. Localboy, my ancestors came from the Azore Islands, am I still a Hauoli or, just a silly Portagee? Happy Hollidays!

 Funny 'cause my father's side is from the Azore Islands (Souza formerly DeSouza) and my mom...well she's Portuguese too (Moniz); just don't know from where. They came to Hawai'i to work the plantations. Traced our lineage back to around 1859 in Hawai'i when my paternal great-grandfather jumped ship. He must have liked what he saw. :thup

It's actually "Haole" (meaing foreigner or non-Hawai'ian, but has come to mean Caucasian). Hauoli means happiness (or happy).

This concludes our lesson for today. Aloha...

"C-Easons" , that's good. merry Christmass to all & may the coming year bring nothing but good times.

I have to go install the Festivus pole now

Localboy,
Thanks for setting me straight, I'm just a poor ignorant Haole after all. Man I love this site. Once again, Merry Christmas to each and everyone of you!

Mark,

I knew we could find some common ground. My grandfather's first stop in the states was working for several years on a plantation on the Big Island in the 1920's. He eventually moved to California and started a family. Although I'm Filipino, my children have Portagee (and Spanish) blood from their mother's side, who's also from Hawaii. :thup

I suspected as much and meant to ask you. When we met you (and your wife) at Friday Harbor this past year, both my brother and I commented how you looked local! Heck I look more haole than you!

I suspect you're neither "poor" nor "ignorant". :wink Being called a haole has taken on it's own meaning or slang as I said. It's not always a bad thing or racial epithet. However, sadly it has moved towards the negative and is used as such more and more, usually with the word "f*#@ing" preceding it. :thdown :amgry But what can you do except disagree with it when possible, teach your children it's not right and fight racial ignorance/hatred/bigotry any way possible.
