Thanks guys and gals! I spent Tues and Wed (my birthday), on the water fishing for steelhead. Myself, a buddy and the guide went out on a WA river (un-named at the request of the guide) and had two pretty decent days. Each day we landed about 5 steelhead, a couple of trout and a few squawfish. The squawfish (AKA pikeminnow) is a predator of salmon and steelhead smolts so all squawfish were killed and fed to eagles. We also caught a few peamouth chubs which were carefully returned unharmed. On each day, we got one hatchery steelhead which we could keep. I was lucky in that both of the hatchery fish were landed by me. One was around 7lb and one was around 11lbs. I had a nice piece of one of those fish for lunch today.
