Great Warranty Experience with Fluid Marine

I have just completed a very short round of e-mail exchanges with Frank Walter at Fluid Marine concerning some fiberglass warranty work that needed to be completed on the Comfortably Numb. Nothing too extreme, just some "rough edges", if you will, from when I had taken delivery.

Frank turned around the request for warranty consideration in one day, and to my complete satisfaction. The proverbial check is in the proverbial mail.

I purchased and took delivery of my C-Dory in March of 2008, prior to Fluid Marine's purchase of the predecessor company's assets. There was never a hint of "that's the prior company's problem". All was handled fast and professionally. I mean, in one day!

Thanks to Frank Walter and Fluid Marine...they are doing the C-Dory name proud.

Pink Floyd rocks, no doubt.

Even though we don't benefit from living on one of the coasts, we are 50 miles from St. Louis. A bunch of us (wives, too) got to the Pageant Theatre in the University City Loop (just outta downtown St. Louis) the Saturday after Christmas and saw "El Monstero" play one of just six shows each year between Xmas and New Year's. El Monstero is allegedly the second best Pink Floyd tribute band in the world (behind the Australian tribute band). Amazing because all the musicians spend the rest of the year with their regular bands. I know, too much detail, but it was a great show.

Anyway, I have worked up just enough courage to tell my 78 year old Mother that the song has to do with drinking too much. I'm going to Hell, of course, for that one. Sad part is, I'm 49 years old, and still afraid of disappointing/confusing her.

It always hurts to lose people like Rick. I'm still not over Jerry Garcia or Stevie Ray's deaths.

I told my mom about PF and we traveled out west in 1979 and attended by PF laser light show at the American History Museum in Denver. It was loud and they used a roomful of lasers.

Mark,
I concur. I purchased my C-Dory August, 2008 from Old Lyme Marina - Connecticut.

Frank & Christine,

I received the SEADOG S.S. water fill inlet and the RuleMate 1100 Bilge Pump for my C-Dory 25’ Cruiser from Frank today. Included with the Bilge Pump and water fill inlet were wiring crimps, electrical ties, S.S. clamps & S.S. screws to secure each operation. Yesterday I received the KISS potholders and the shower head nozzle from Christine.

I can’t thank you both enough. You have both been extremely helpful and accommodating in satisfying my purchase from each of your facilities – kudos to both of you!

I had a couple of items requiring attention besides the RuleMate 1100 Bilge Pump and received excellent attention and this is a follow-up for everyone regarding Fluid Marine's commitment to warranty and customer satisfaction. Old Lyme Marina is simply great, as well.

Fantastic response from C-Dory (Fluid Marine) and Frank. Fluid Marine (C-Dory) sent me a new RuleMate 1100 - no questions asked.

Old Lyme Marina is simply a fantastic marina!

BTW, I'm a huge Floyd fan. Caught the Roger Waters' show in Milwaukee, WI Marcus Amphitheatre a couple years ago - what was it called - Pink Pig? I don't recall but he had this huge Pink Pig filled w/ helium. Great show.

Back to the topic of warranty service. I just found out that the motor on Journey On wasn't listed as having the extended warranty Honda gave in 2005. After several days of discussion with the repair shop, I noticed that I had a letter from Jill Matthews at C-Dory in 2005 asking us to sign some papers. So I gave her a call. No discussion about if I deserved an extended warranty just "we will work this." I sent her the documents I had, she sent them to Honda, and I know have a warranty until next year.

Continued good service from the people at C-Dory.

Boris

P.S. My favorites are/were Pete Seeger and Woody Guthrie. Good heavens, I must be getting OLD.

It is about heroin use...when my Mother asked about the name Comfortably Numb, I wasn't prepared to say heroin use; instead, I stumbled a bit and stammered out something about drinking too much. I lied to my Mother...hence, me going to Hell.

Glad you experienced the same satisfaction...sounds like you're having fun, too. Good thing...life is short.

Speaking of Jerry, I've been thinking of renaming my recently purchased boat to Dead Ahead... or perhaps Sunshine Daydream, which would be apropos to the PNW.

Mark, congratulations, and I do hope it goes well for you. Please keep us posted on the progress. Is Fluid Marine going to do the work, or are they paying for it to be done somewhere? That might make some difference.

A friend of mine who occasionally posts here has had his boat in the warranty repair process since last October. It is still in the process and he is, IMHO, way to quiet and patient about it. He won't likely say anything here about it, but he is not exactly a happy camper. He did get to see his boat at the factory dinner this last weekend and is still hoping for resolution. A lot of work has been done but not sure if any of it is the right fix yet, and we are fast approaching another boating season.

Kudos to Fluid Marine if they are taking good care of you. I, and I suspect many others, are looking forward to that kind of factory care. It appears from the slant that Fluid Marine is taking in their marketing, that they realize the value of the association with C-Brats. If that is true, then they will probably also want to take care of the Brats because they also know the value of this site. We have heard good things from the dealers, and good things from the Fluid Marine folks, now let's give them a good hand and see how things go.

Speaking of Jerry,

I wondered when/if anyone would bring him up. My personal would be Terrapin Station, but my all time fav (actually from Yorma) is Know You Rider....that may be my next vessel's name.

I did the last (mail-order) show in Chicago @ Soldier's Field - he looked like shit (I was row 10 both nights) and honestly, I thought he was going to drop right that night.

Sunshine Daydream was an absolute close second place name for my boat. It's a great name. If you name her that, post a pic of the lettering style...I'd love to see it.

Al Meinen at Elite Powerboats in Highland, Illinois is my fiberglass guy. An artist. He makes the molds for a lot of big time boat manufacturers, too. Highland is about 20 miles west of me, and 30 miles east of St. Louis. I guess because of our location here in the heartland, Frank knew the boat wasn't going to Washington state for repairs.

Norm -

I was at the next to last night (a Friday, if I recall) at Soldier's field that summer. Ironic. We had to jump a train and head south on Saturday, and that was the last we saw of Jerry.

I loved going to those shows...my boss then, who was President of the bank I worked for, always said as I was leaving town for a show, "Don't tell me any details, and try to keep the judge's bail order as low as possible. I'll keep the wire transfers open as long as I can."

For you music fans Billy Powell of the original Lynard Skynard Band died last night at only 56 from and apparent heart attack. He was the original keyboard player.

Marvin- I hadn't heard of Billy passing away. Man, seems tonight's a very strange night for me. After grad school I taught at Pasco-Hernando Community College in Brooksville, FL for about 5 years - I met, in the most strangest of ways, some very interesting band members while I lived in Hudson, FL and Dade City, FL.

On one occasion, in a non-majors biology course, on the first day, I'm reviewing the names of the students enrolled in the class and asking them to ensure their paperwork was filled out and they were indeed registered for the class and sitting in the class. Generally, I just ask if they're present, they don't introduce themselves. I don't really pay attention to "who" they are, just that they're "in class". So, on this one occasion, I'm reading the roster and it says (I think his name was Stephen) Van Zandt. And, of course, I had to ask; and, yep - he was Johhny's cousin. In fact, I also met Hughie Thomasson from the Outlaws (and had drinks with him on two occasions), of course he left the Outlaws to become guitarist for Lynard Skynard (hehehe...they're high school biology teacher). And, low and behold, here I was in Brookesville, FL teaching a course in Biology with a Van Zandt in my biology class - talk about full circle. :beer :beer

I might model it after this sticker I got from an outside vendor at a Dead show, so many years ago:

Norm not to derail the thread anymore I sent you a PM about Lynard Skynard. On the subject of The Dead I was staying at the campground in St Louis that all the Deadheads stayed at before the concert this was the next to last concert they did and where the stairs collapsed traping about 50 young kids during the wee hours of the morning. Really a tragic scene. I was working in St Louis and had been on vacation in Colorado. When I returned to St Louis I was greeted by what the paper said were 5,000 Deadheads. I figured something was up when for the last 50 miles on I-70 returning to St Louis all I saw were VW bugs and kids hitchhiking.
