Loss of "family" companions hurts. I know this pain also.
So very sorry.

Somehow, the following has helped me through this and
I hope it consoles you as well.

"We who choose to surround
ourselves with lives
even more temporary
than our own
live in a fragile circle
easily and often breached.
Unable to accept
its awful gaps, we still would
live no other way.
We cherish memory
as the only
certain immortality,
never fully understanding
the necessary plan."

“Separate lifetimes”,

Susan and Tom, we are very sorry to hear of the passing of Shadow. We always enjoyed seeing him and giving him loves. Our pup Sunshine also enjoyed being around Shadow and "learning" from the wiser dog he was. Kim and I sure sympathize as we have been down the road, you're on, too many times with our furry family members.

Know that he is resting easy after chasing and running all over the meadows and hills in a place that is called "Rainbow Bridge."

You guys take care, our thoughts are with you both.

Tom and Susan, So sorry to hear of your loss. Shadow was a great people dog, and so well mannered. Loved to see him on the dock and always enjoyed his visits. Loosing a family member is not easy, and having to make that decision is hard, but caring and loving helps make that decision, not easier but better. Time heals the pain, and the good memories will last. That is healing.

Tom and Susan-

Sorry for your loss of Shadow.

Not much I can say that hasn't already been said, but we all go through this, usually several times or more in our lives.

Perhaps this will help-

It came to me that every time I lose a dog they take a piece of my heart with them, and every new dog who comes into my life gifts me with a piece of their heart.
I hope that if I live long enough all the components of my heart will be dog, and I will become as generous and loving as they are.

Take Care.
