need to mount yamaha 2400 generator on top of tom cat.

wanted honda2000 , very light but was not carrying the load.

any idea on roof mounting?

i run only air conditioning at 11000, the yamaha runs a13500 according to specs.

also i have noticed that a few folks have been able run on the 2000 honda.

any input would be most helpfull.

thanking in advance

Jimmy,
I would suggest that you mount your generator like we do on the TC 255 (Honda 2000). I would be concerned about both noise and CO from a roof mount. We like to have the exhaust completely clear of the boat. The generator is mounted on the swim step on a milk crate--at anchor--not under way. (I guess that the roof mount would be "OK" underway..., but buy a very good CO detector --CO experts.) I went with the Polar Cub 8300 because it is run easily with the Honda EU 2000. The temp in the pilothouse is comfortable (about 20 degrees below ambient when in the 100 degree range) with the 8300 BTU AC unit. I use a 13,500 to cool my 30 foot RV in the 110 degree desert....but it is better insuallated than the Tom Cat. Incidently we are insullating the roof of the Tom Cat inside, as well as head liner.

The other question is what is the current draw of the AC unit? Buy a "Kilo-watt" guage to measure the current draw at start up and run.
