Just had a aluminum bracket fabricated for the starboard side of splash well, permanent home for generator, Honda 2000, real nice if anyone wants one.

Sounds cool. Photos, price?

Just finished the new home for the Honda 2000. Canvas cover being made for it to match the roof air cover and bimini.Had it built out of aluminum and painted to match the boat.Rachet strap holds it down,I use a cable and lock to secure when staying at a marina. Pictures in album.

Nice bracket!

Here's a convenient link to a series of photos: Just click on the photo to go to the first one of seven:

That's very nice :thup Well thought out, simple and nicely done. I think that if that was my Genny up there, It would have a stainless cable from the handle to a secure eye pad just for redundancy (and maybe for a padlock)

Rigged my fuel fill for generator this weekend, came out of Racor with 5/16 fuel line, went in cable boot for the engine, that put me in the compartment next to generator, inline fuel pump from NAPA, quater turn ball valve on end of hose, open compartment, grab hose hit the switch on the pump, fill generator, no gas can to carry, plus fuel is filtered from racor, easy job makes life good

Congrats you two have a neat well done boat. It sure looks like you have a good time. We wish you the best.

BTW, saw a 2000w Ryobi generator display (though no generator!) at Home Depot yesterday for $599. Can't find the db rating or weight online, looks in general to be equivalent to Honda EU200 (typically costing $900+).

Anyone care to comment?

The Honda is a proven performer. Down the road when you need parts with the number of Eu 1000 and Eu 2000 Honda generators it should never be a problem. For me Honda is the best engine builder period. They especially rule in the small air cooled engines. I'm a Yamaha guy for my outboards but drive a Honda Civic, the wife a Honda CRV and have never had trouble with a Honda engine of any type. Given clean air and clean oil they just don't seem to stop running. I'm sure there are a lot of good generators out there but you don't hear much bad said about Hondas. You get what you pay for at least my opinion at least concerning any Honda product.

Ben-
We followed your advice and cruised close to the barrier islands heading east. Beautiful and calm. The passes were sloppy but didn't take long. Going inside Dauphine and coming out at Ft Gaines worked out real well also.
You've got a great cruising area there. Give us a shout when you're in the Panama city area.

Have the EU2000 and recently got the EU 6500 as a backup for the house.Incredibly quiet and smooth running. I think the minimal vibration will allow it to hold up better over time than most small generators.

Generator in the splashwell with twins? It can be done! (At least with Yamaha F50s on a 23 Venture - YMMV.)

After some weeks of cogitating, measuring, and experimenting with various mockups, I have succeeded in making a home for my Honda 2000 generator in a splashwell already accommodating twin Yamaha F50 outboards. The engines can be fully raised and turned from hard port to hard starboard without interference from the generator. With the engines all the way up, the clearance can be less than 1/2 inch at three separate spots at the same time! But it fits, and I don't have to worry about inadvertently crunching something by turning the wheel or hitting the trim control.

I used two V-Lock 90 degree mounting devises. Of course the walls of the splashwell are not vertical. I bent the mounting pieces to 81 degrees to match the slope. (I understand you can now custom order specific angles from the V-Lock manufacturer, but I don't know what the extra cost might be.) I also made a removable support leg, just to make storage a little easier. Getting everything level took some time, but I'm happy with the outcome.

Here are some pictures: Generator Platform

That EU6500 watt Honda is an impressive piece of machinery. 52 dB, less than the 2000. But then I saw the price tag...cost more than a 16KW natural gas Generac, installed with auto transfer switch...but its a Honda--and you can will it to the grandchildren!
