Not sure what they are actually selling in the ad. The pictures show different configurations and some are artwork. Not sure if there is a real boat there. If they are actually selling any one of the boats in the photos for $50k it is a screaming deal.

FWIW, "Capedorycruisers.com" is an available domain name.

This is the website of Madison Bay Holdings: Ricardo Ruelos. He is the one who has the molds for the Marinaut. Not sure where the other boat molds are coming from. Some appear to be from the Cape Dory line. He bought the "Cape Dory" name.

I don't know of much new there. They have produced one boat the that I know of. I have not heard of any updates recently.

I’ll take one.. but the website doesn’t work. Also says dealers wanted, so I’m guessing somebody wants to see if there’s any interest or just playing games. 8)

Me too!! I suspect that is the price for a basic hull - rigging it and putting it on a trailer could double that figure.

I did have some communication with Ricardo a year or 2 ago - he was looking for some input on anything specific that Canadian buyers would want in a boat. My last email to him has not been answered.

There have been other threads here re these boats. I believe the pics are of Marinauts with the Cape Dory name photoshopped on.

A while back I think Tyboo was talking about ordering one - ??

I do wish them luck - would love to see this boat being produced here on the east coast.

Regards,

Rob

The story of the Marinaut, Les, and all that is a bit of a sad one. Same for Cape Dory, Andy Valvolotis in Taunton built the first Cape Dory 36 for me many a moon ago. He had some rough spots but being an Alberg 37 shrunk a foot, she was a fine boat as are most of Carl's designs. Having lived near all the boat yards in Costa Mesa/SoCal in the heyday of Monti's, Westies, Catalinas, MacG's, Hobies, North Seas, Bristols, Shocks, and earlier wood boats (I owned a very nice Coast Rhodes 33 - she was a witch to weather) and sailed many a day on one of Don P's Viking 24's, I am always sad to see a great set of molds or a lofted strongback fall on hard times. Guess some say we "moldy molds" will be left out in the tall grass to weather our way back to nature. Best to think of bright sunny blue skies with fair winds and a cold one in the bucket, a hand on the tiller, and an eye on the pretty girl sitting next to you!!!!

Not me! I think Da Nag had expressed a passing interest in the restart of the Marinaut line. We have similar hair styles so maybe that's what got you mixed up.

It's really a nice looking boat. I wonder what is included for that price. There is a guy up here that makes jumbo Tolman Cabin Cruisers for about that price and they come with a trailer and power. They are actually a very good value in my opinion.

Guys, I'm holding on to my last wisps of hair! Im 38! Please advise me.

From what I see in your list of boats I’d say, buy more boats and be done with it. No more shampoo, combing, etc.
Right to the root of the matter I say ! :?
