Hooked on Powell
New member
It's been a heck of a year so far. The good has been very good, the not so good, well, we all know how that goes.
After losing Debatable (aka Dependable) last winter it seemed like an awfully long search (made longer by no lake time!) before we hit the jackpot with Bob & Marie Austin and Frequent Sea.
We came very close to buying new from Matt Gurnsey, who was the most helpful dealer I've ever run across (Thanks Matt!). But we also knew that Frequent Sea would probably be the best used boat we could ever hope for. We consider ourselves very, very lucky to have Frequent Sea on Lake Powell. We took delivery at Powell at the end of July and have had the chance for several lake trips since. We just love this little boat!
I haven't been on the site here much since summer so am awfully late in sharing this news with you. I also want to thank you all for your advice and patience with questions about these great boats and the wealth of information contained on this site.
Most of all, I want to share with you something many of you already know very well. Bob & Marie are the best! Their patience, generosity and helpful spirit made the purchase easier than I would ever have expected.
Best of all it was just so darned fun meeting them I was sorry to see them leave Page so soon! Their meticulous care and maintenance of the boat, their obvious love of boating in general, and their continued patience with questions and willingness to share thoughts and advice have made this a wonderful experience. When I share the story of how we came to acquire Frequent Sea and the Austins' exceptional generosity with our neighbors at the lake they invariably compare to their own track record with local dealers, marinas, etc. Not surprisingly, for those of you who know them, no one can compare to Bob & Marie Austin!
I saw several of you, and know that Frequent Sea was spotted, too, at the end of September when you'all were coming in off the lake and I was just starting out for a week. We are looking forward to meeting any and all of you whenever our paths cross at Powell. We are on 'A' dock just down from the marina store at Wahweap, so stop on by and say hello!
Finally, condolences to Bob & Marie. Mother Tootsie sounds like she was a heck of a gal!
