forward facing seat question

Two mods I would like to make in my 22'. Cutting out some of the port bulkhead between the pilothouse and trunk cabin, to increase access and ventilation forward; and making a forward-facing front port seat. I have looked through lots of photos and posts on making a barber chair mod, all of which make a wood-butcher like me envious. But has anybody taken out enough of the port bulkhead to make a knee well for a forward facing seat, which would avoid moving the seat box and cutting the dinette table? It would require a movable seat back, but that is easy enough. I have to carefully look at the dimensions involved to see if it would work, and hoped somebody has tried it can share the experience, before I do any unnecessary thinking! Thanks for any thoughts. Sam

The bulkhead is not structural and can be totally removed. The problem is that the platform for the V berth is too high to be a good foot well, so it would have to be cut down....This is based on my mental calculations, I don't have a 22 to measure that right here...

Ron, that view is very helpful, and a very pretty job. Bob, you are right about the bunk being ergonomically too high, but I think I will try it anyway--if it is not comfortable, I have not lost much--I can always go the barber chair mod later. Thanks both. Sam
