Footware Make the Man

My ole' pappy use to say " You can tell a lot about a man by his shoes ".

Well, that being the case what would you'al have to say about this man, based on his choice of shoes?

By the way, before you get too rough on this fellow, (Who isn't me) I have to admit I have 6 pairs myself and consider them the very best in boating/water shoes.

Around my place they are referred to as "Goofy Shoes"...The proper name will come later.

The question today is....who is wearing them in this photo?

Well that is just too easy. It has to be the noodle king. I believe we saw those shoes on our boat yesterday during our swim call...........They were also dangling in the water.................could it be the Byrdman???

And I'm guessing that Byrdman is wearing "Crocs", the new shoe craze sweeping the Southeast boating communiuty! (Wonder why they weren't called "Gators", being of American origin?) Joe.

Don't know who's feet those are, but I love my Crocs... the closest thing to barefoot this island boy has ever come across. Ugly they may be, but they are SO comfortable. We first saw them two years ago at the Miami Boat Show... I thought to myself, "I'd never put anything that ugly on my feet." After two days of tromping through the show (shooting an assignment), my feet were BURNING. We walked past the Croc's booth and Joan said, "Let's try 'em."

"Yeah, you go right ahead." She did. And raved. So, I tried a pair... "Oh, these feel REAL good!"

During our recent downsizing, all the Crocs made the cut and are going with us. :thup

One day to go!

Best wishes,
Jim B.

Well, it looks like Rick, who with much inside information
has let the cat out of the bag early. But not to worry,
it wouldn't have taken any of us long to zoom in on
the Byrd...he has fashion statement written all over him.

I love my "Crocs" and have about six pairs in a mulitude
of colors. It makes it nice that Judy and I can wear the
same size, although we do have to plan ahead and not
dress for the same color.

I just purchased some for my wife........She loves them............It dose take a man to wear them in public.

This "bit" is just a Joke. Please don't take offence even if your shoes are funny looking.

Who has not the downrigger balls wear them yet! :D

Oooohhhh...ugly shoes. Here's the Da Nag and Bambina flavor - Keen Newports.

The Brockster borrowed a pair from me at Blakely, and I've spied them on his tootsies ever since. Love 'em...good sole stick, waterproof, they dry quickly, and man....my feet just want to do the happy dance every time I put them on. I'm still on my first pair after 2+ years of part-time wear - they seem to hold up great.

Still - those Crocs are damn ugly. I may have to get a pair just for the Brat impact.

you may not hurt his feelings but you did hurt my pocketbook. I went out and bought a pair of the ugly damn things yesterday after reading Joe's link. theyza mighty comfy for sure

Shhesh, Crocs are great. They give me a real sense of security walking the gunnel while polishing the cabin top. Besides, just today I had a babe salesgirl at WM walk up and comment on 'em. She says "Those are the latest things" and then went on to whine about WM not carrying all the neat colors. I told her San Diego has three Croc company stores.

WOOOOWWWW.... I get all dressed up and put on some type of shoes cause "company"....or at least new folks to Bama are coming in... and this is the love I get. Yep, it takes something as bad as those shoes to begin to make the rest of me look better....kinda sorta. Marc from Wefins blew out my 1st pair that were black....and looked.... less ugly. So, if anyone finds one left black crock size 8 floating on the Gulf Coast from east to west... grab that sucker and send her back home. My next door neighbor owns Sikes & Kohn on Hwy 231 between Montgomery and the Gulf Coast.... This is the last pair he had...that fit....so it was ugler than me brown....or nothing... Now, my 1st site of those was at the 2005 Seattle Boat Show, upstares, towards the back wall.....behind the line of folks. My brother and his wonderful wife Brenda, "B", bought a pair for each of them... I said something to the effect....are you really going to wear something like that Brother??? After a short burst about our family histroy  , they took the shoes off they walked in with...and wore the things. The 2 negatives that I see with them (no pun intended), is that one, if ya take them off and just set them in the back of a boat that goes over 30.....and do not hookem up with a line.... you will be at least one short upon getting to the ramp. The other, is that when they are wet...I mean really wet like water running out of them after jumping back on board....the hill is a bit slippery...and ya gotta be a bit careful on the gunnel walks. But hey....just kick'm off and go!

Byrdman hitting the road for about a week and will be "unplugged." Look forward to more bashing and banging upon my return....and.....No Don...we do not allow harpooning (sp?) whales in fresh water.

Hi Folks,

The only thing people are wearing on Nantucket is (Kerry) Flip Flops and Crocs. Purchased a pair yesterday. Brown. Size 10. Will take some getting use to.

Sounds even more risque than wearing thongs and crocs.

(It sure is difficult for me to not refer to "flip flops" as "thongs!"
