Flipping, reversing, or going to Last In-First Out order

Hi Forum Admins,
As I try to read most if not all of the new posts every day, I have a suggestion to make. On the threads with many posts such as Wild Blue/Captain Jim and the Blonde, we are running as many as 179 pages. To get the current post one has to scroll/move to the last page and then find the post. I think most of our interest is in the current post and if we were after the prior/older posts, going backwards or down the list is a more natural move (digitally speaking). I have no idea how such things work behind the scenes but as a frequent user, thought I would speak up on this one. Thanks so much for all you do for us, the C-Brat page vies with my morning paper as first read of the day.

I use FireFox and when I visit the C Brats site, it auto logs in to the site and I click on the View posts since last visit link, and look at the postings and if one has multiple pages, I select the last page below the title, and it goes to the last page and scroll down if needed to read the last one. I dont think it can be configured to go to the latest message but you never know

Hi Bob,
When you look at the list of recent postings looking at the far left side of the title. If there is a sort of gold rectangle with a corner clipped it means there has been a new post on that thread since you last logged in. Just click on that, not the thread title, and it will take you directly to the newest post. If there is no rectangle that means there is no new post on that thread since you last checked. Sometimes there will be several posts on a thread since you last checked. Then, after checking the "golden rectangle" you'll have to check the date and time of the postings shown to make sure you see all the new ones. Alternatively, if you see a number to the right of the thread title, i.e. "179" just click on that and it will take you to page 179 of that thread where you should be able to see the last few posts. Another alternative is, on the home page, on the right hand side, click the box that says "show posts for the last 24 hours" and it will show all posts made in that time frame. You can change that to the last 2 days, 3 days, etc.

I grew up learning to sail on a Naples Sabot and they are great fun.

Cool Thread.

Barry: I never used the "Golden Rectangle" before. Thanks

Roger: Nice trick. For some reason I always have to login even though I check that "remember me box every time. I will try your book mark trick.

Bob: If you can sail a Sabot, you can sail anything. You just can't put all those others in the trunk of your Pinto or Escalente.

Welcome to the sight. You probably know there are a bunch of us here who were rag boaters long before going over to the stink-potter side. If not, the cat is out of the bag now. Some were racers, some world cruisers, some had both kinds, and some have gone from sail to power and then back to sail. Some of us haven't decided for sure yet and the good thing, we all enjoy the water and most of us love or C-Dorys.

When the new post page or a forum index page is up, look all the way to the right in the column titled Last Post. There will be a little black arrow and a page icon. Click that and you go right to the very last post made in whatever thread. Same as what you're looking for, maybe?

Never had used the access to the golden rectangle. I see that works if you can catch every new post on a visit. Does it reset after you log on and then you are back to the hit the page button. In the current posts window I still can see the benefit of having the recent post and not the thread from the first post open. Not a complaint, just a thought. By the way, after the first 8' Sabot it got real costly ending with the first of the Cape Dory 36 footers with a handmade interior (before the mold was made for the interior). Getting ready to power boat and holding out as I do not want to buy a new truck but the wife wants a head not a portapotti. Thanks for all the posts. No matter what i buy, I will be asking to be an honorary C-Brat if it is not a C-Dory.

Bob, Barry is right,
"There are many Brats without C-Dorys, you'll fit right in. Welcome."
But there are also many Brats that have heads and showers, towable and windfree. Twenty-five's, twenty-six and TomCat 255's.

Enjoy,

"Holding out" may not be the best solution in the long run. Make Momma happy and you'll get to spend more time on the boat together.

When we went to the Seattle Boat Show to make a decision on a C-Dory, I was pushing for the 22 (price); Joan said, "That one." (the 25) It turned out to be a very good decision for our use.

Glad to see you received a good solution for how to get to the most recent posts.

Best wishes,
Jim B.
