Firearms onboard

Hi Rick: A nice side arm no doubt. Could come in handy on the gators down here. A CCP is $20 here and honored in Georgia and Florida. If you register the boat in AL you won't need a tag for the trailer. We camp out on the islands at Lake Martin often but have yet to bump into FreeByrd. Kinda hard to believe. We launch at the north end of the lake and his marina is at the south end. You will be lucky to be so close to the lake. It takes us 1.5 hrs to run up.

Cool that we have the same rigs. I always chuckle when I read the "Recent CD sightings" They are always on the West coast. Soon they will be spotted in LA. Around here thats slang for Lower Alabama. A couple came down from Huntsville for a demo on "C-Weed" and they bought a 22 also. So they are growing. Kinda :oops: to say about fishing. I spent lots of time in Asia away from the rods. I now have the boat, just haven't got it together to wet a line. All I can say is enjoy the cool dry air. Hot and steamy, here.

Au Contrare, there's one in my big garage on the river in Virginia!! And several others nearby. We're just not sighted as often!

My CHP is reciprocal with Alabama and 25 other states so I won't have to get one there.
We will be registering the boat in Alaska. Looking forward to picking her and getting her wet!
We are also looking forward to camping out on Lake Martin. How do you handle the heat in the middle of the summer or do people wait until the fall and winter and early spring to do most of their boating? We have a lot to learn.

Being in the Coast Guard, you must have some fair swimming speed at your personal disposal, right?

Plan to carry some firepower aboard?

OTOH, have you ever seen one of those set up where a boat tows a shark body just below the surface with a fin protruding above? Nice joke maybe, but some authorities may not think so!

However, if things get too tight for someone from Alaska, rig yourself up a big rubber gator with nice big bulging eyes protruding to tow behind your boat and you'll get some manuvering, swimming, and anchoring space all to yourself.

In the paper tuesday was the pic of a local doctor from seattle who does a lot of work in africa. Seems he and the wife went for a canoe trip at a natinal park in africa with guides and the whole nine yards. Well a croc ripped him right out of the canoe and dragged him under never to be seen again. When I fished for sea trout and drum in north carolina we waded out on to the beach in the I.C.W. and casted across the flats. A buddy of mine and I had a large gator sneak up behind us between us and shore. just as we saw him he went under. You don't have to bet the gator to shore just your friends. I have never walked on water but I have been on plane a time or two.

I got bad new for you.. gators got legs ... and there fast. most people get in trouble with garors "Near water" You see they like to lay in the sun and get all warm. they barely move until you step on or over one. I have seen them on the beach, golf courses, parking lots, in the tall grass near dicthes around your house. Get a dog as a warning device .. when the dog stops barking theres a gator in your yard and you need a new dog.
 
I have been chased by several gators in N.C. and S.C. that were on golf courses and near fishing ponds. they case you when ever they feel like it and have no doubt they dont see you as a threat. Snakes are good eating and will not "jump" out of trees. They do fall on people like bill dance who go around shaking trees to get their lures back. I know some people, like my mon, who fear snakes more then death its self, but I just can't get worked up over a creature a 100th of my body weight coming to get me. I have seen gators that are every bite of 18 ft and I am sure they dont fear me any more then I fear snakes.
 
So what you are telling me is....leave the 45 at home....and instead bring either the 416 Rigby or the 500 Nitro Express :lol:
