Finally Cutting the Umbilical Cord!!!!

After 28 years Catman is going to be moving on from his trusty, loyal, well cared for, and well traveled 1989 16 Angler "Bambina".

One of the original Brats (i.e. Brat # 9), well liked by all, and the likely instigator of the 1st ever C-Brats Get Together which occurred in Langley, WA (although I am not sure of the year), Brock Arnold will be taking delivery of a brand new 2017 Venture 23' C-Dory in April.

Congratulations and good luck w/ the new C-Dory Brock! Hopefully, the new boat will serve you as well and take you as many places in safety and comfort as Bambina has.

I am assuming Brock's new Venture 23' will be christened at the May, 2017 Friday Harbor CBGT. If so, this will be another great reason to attend that Gathering.

Take care,
Dan, Tanya, and Hannah (the dog) Denver on Echo

Yup and we got to chat about that acquisition at the pot luck. Sounds like Brock has good plans. Considering where Bambina has been I can hardly imagine where the V-23 will go.

Congrats Brock and I'm really sorry I missed seeing you at the potluck the other night. I didn't notice you were there or I would have made a point of chatting. Hopefully, you'll make it to Friday Harbor.

YES! The Cat is finally out of the bag! Congrats Brock! It was fun hanging with ya at the SBS and helping spend your money on gadgets for the new one 😉 I'm just newbie to the gang but looking forward to reading about the next 28 years of cruising adventures in the 23!

Gosh, thanks, guys. Dan, you frisky rascal. Umbilical cord, huh? OK, now I'm starting to understand things around here.

What I want to know is two things. Can I sit at the adult table now, and what's the combination of the Treehouse where all the cool kids play? At my 16-and under table we have Cheetos for lunch and ice cream and gummy bears for dessert. We talk about cartoons, video games, and who would win in a fight between Batman and Superman. One guy said the big table has green stuff grown in dirt for dinner and adult beverages, whatever those are. Do you have comic books and TV's in your Treehouse?

Perhaps the real message here is miracles happen. I mean, c'mon. Who thought that would ever happen? Not me. Not till retirement. Afterall, I already have a boat. But I hit 60--it hit me, really--and that number motivated me out of my soft-bodied slumber and into new possibilities. It was the Bellingham gathering last August that super charged my desire. All those beautiful 22's, 25's, a 19' and three Ventures to walk the dock till 2 a.m. and imagine. The hook was set, and you know what happens when that happens.

I'm really looking forward to the many new adventures. By the way, save me a seat!

Brock,

You are going to love it. Great to get to be in on the "spill" and hope we didn't scare you to much with the lumpy chatter. You will enjoy the outcome, and the course from here to there will be full of research and questions but it will be fun in the end. And, you will have more room and bigger edges on the weather windows too.

It won't be long and the single handing the new size will be second nature, only thing is you probably won't be able to tow it with your bicycle anymore.

Congratulations Brock! I remember meeting you at the Blake Island docks just a few months before you hatched the 1st C-brats gathering in Langley. Looking forward to reading about your new adventures in your new boat. Cheers! :cocktail

And I guess you will move up from that trusty old 2003 Garmin 188C! Whoever buys Bambina (I assume it will be for sale, after all, who needs two C-Dorys? Oh, wait...) will be a lucky dude or dudette who will get the gem of the fleet!

and that lady asked "Why would he do that?" when told he had just come into John Wayne from up in the Gulf Islands and was on his way back home.

Buncha comedians, you's guys.

Here's another chuckler just delivered via Amazon drone: This Brat offers via PM: "I think you should have an application process to pre-qualify potential buyers before they're allowed to view Bambina. Requirements might include a garage to keep her in and NO holes allowed to be drilled EVER! Bubble bath AND dry after each use, including blowing the water out of each screw just as you've done for 28 years! (I thought nobody saw that) And of course, no fishing allowed! Then the bidding starts at 18K, highest bid from pre-qualified buyer will have to pleasure of towing home the finest 1989 Angler 16' on the planet! Seems more than fair to me," this sagacious Brat adds.

Man, you gotta like a guy like that. Clear thinker, priorities straight. That's why I've selected him my Secretary of Mate. I'm busily assembling my Council of Adorables to help make our biggest event of the year, Bellingham in August, great. A drone will be dropping your invitation soon.

Sounds like a fair sale process Brock that anonymous Brat sure knows his or her stuff! One more stipulation you might add, depending on your feelings about it, the name Bambina remains! Boat has legend status, and would be bad juju to change after 28 years despite any re-naming ceremony that might exist!

Regarding your Bellingham CBGT high council and event planning subcommittee, I hereby vote for a new event, the Dinghy Race to Fairhaven. More fun than carpooling to the Factory tour. Winner gets a trophy cup that will be circulated to the new winner each year, with C-brat username scribbled on via Sharpie marker of course. :P

Brock, I've been waiting for this announcement to show up since our visit last summer. A huge congratulations! You are just a little bit excited, right??!!

Robbi

Hi, Robbi. Yeah, just a little! Like Ralphi Christmas morning in anticipation of his Red Rider BB gun. Really nice to see you at Poulsbo last September, and here on Brat Chat.
And thanks, too, for high-fives from Wild Blue, Leo, Pat, MikeR., Harvey, Marty, Roger, Bill and El. I wish you all the best this new year.
