Everyone, say, "Hi, Tom!"

Hi Tom,

And Welcome to C-Brat land. This is a community like no other. Great friends, excellent information, and no shortage of opinions. Everyone has one and many like to share them. Here you can find everything about C-Dorys, much about life, and some about fishing. As you know, we have a huge variety of owners that participate. Scientists, farmers, medical professionals, sales and management, educators, engineers, mechanics, real estate, lawyers, fire and EMs, and several thousand (probably) others.

My boating story shortly. Rowing and canoeing since 6 years old. Paddle craft and sailing in college. Paddle and sailing for years, Still own our last sailboat, (Montgomery 15) and currently a 22 Cruiser.

We love the 22.

It was chosen to be the original owner's 34th boat. He was getting ready to retire, and was setting it up to go to and from Alaska, fishing and cruising. He knew what he was doing when it came to boats, and we appreciate how SleepyC is set up. We have had to add very little. (Unfortunately he did not survive to make the Alaska trip).

Enjoy the sailing, but, don't forget, there can be life after sail. Doesn't mean you don't still love it, just that sometimes practicality presents good alternatives that should not be ignored :D

Just curious. Is there a Tom?

Boris

Hi Boris,

Yes there is... he posted here earlier on this thread. Tom and I have been acquaintances (who haven't met in person, yet) for about 10 years. Every 6 months or so, Tom gets the hankering for a really practical powercruiser... then he goes out and buys another sailboat. He always said he was going to come visit us when we had our trimaran... but, we only had that for 6 years. He has shown interest in the C-Dorys ever since I posted some of our travel stuff with it on the sailing site.

I "outed" him here because I felt he needed to hear it from someone besides me who has been an avid sailor and finds great satisfaction with our CD-25. He may not post again here for a while, but I'm guessing he is still reading these thread when he has time.

This is one of those situations where he needs to get out on one of these boats. And see how easy the livin' is. And the towing (with the right tow vehicle). I know these boats aren't the right choice for everyone, but I know what Tom has in mind, and a CD-25 will suit him to a T. (BIG HINT, Tom)

Thanks to all the C=Brats who have responded here. Tom isn't a figment of my imagination. Apparently my raving about the boat hasn't been enough to get him off his ass... I was hoping your encouragement might help. He and I considered retiring at about the same time... tick, tick, tick.

Best wishes,
Jim

Jim, If I hadn't read Tom's post already, I might have thought his other name might be Harvey, (from an old Jimmy Stuart movie, "Harvey" and not really my namesake) :smiled
