Neither is in a battery box and the charger and battery selector switch is also crammed in there.
Going to relocate one batter to the port side locker. Have ordered battery boxes, # 4 wiring and crimp ends for the new battery cables.
Thinking of installing this:
Product Info for BEP Marine Square Battery Distribution Cluster f/Single Engine w/Two Battery Banks
Square Battery Distribution Cluster f/Single Engine w/Two Battery Banks
The 716-SQ-140A-DVSR is an ideal replacement for a battery selector switch. Just remove the selector switch and connect the existing wires to a 716 cluster no extra wires are required for a fully automatic battery management system. To be used in single outboard dual battery bank or single alternator inboard engine dual battery bank.
No more flat start batteries
Electronics protection from harmful engine start spikes
The 716 cluster is for use on charging systems up to 150A
The 716 cluster replaces battery isolator systems
Looking up the DVSR :
Charges engine starting batteries before combining auxiliary bank for charging
Protects start batteries from becoming flattened by House Bank loads
Isolates electronics from harmful electrical surges from starter motors
Simple to install three-wire connection leaves alternator wiring intact
No voltage drop vs diode-based battery isolators
Ignition protected
Multi voltage, auto selects between 12 and 24V DC operation
Digital circuits provide very low power consumption and enhanced performance
Remote status LED output option
Continuous rating: 140
Engages: 13.2 VDC,
Disengages: 12.7 VDC
So, any cautions regarding this proposed setup?
I have zero experience in setting up a two battery system so all comments are welcomed and appreciated.
