Awesome! Glad you had a great road trip. You should enjoy many great hours and times on your tug. I still reflect back on the story of the 3 guys who each had their own R-21 and did Alaska touring. Great hulls. I also enjoyed the sound bed for your blog. Psalm 23 is a tried and true one, and the Eagles "Long Road out of Eden" warrants a good listening to .... good water music! I think I’ll play it again!!

Congratulations on your R-21 acquisition. Will be considerably different than the SeaDoo. Loved the blog site. Used to spend weekends down on SPI when I was a Fort Sam Houston. (Being from the PNW I needed the water fix.) Enjoy the tug, and we'll keep watching here for you.

Well, Herb you ol' son-of-a-gun, I didn't see that one coming. Congrats! Are you back in PI? I assume you're going to invite me out for a ride on it? 8)

Contrary to what my buddy Dave thinks, I am not in the loop. In fact, I'm not even sure where the loop is. But I think I can still tie a bowline.

So, Herb, if you need a bowline tied anywhere on that tug, give me a call. I went through the Fingers a couple days ago and didn't see a boat on your dock or lift.

I'm anxious to see your new boat!

Herb- You're OK with us but you better give Jim a ride if you want to stay in the good graces of the condo association. I think they have a clause somewhere about tug boats. Seriously, that's a cute boat. Enjoy.
 
Thanks for all the welcomes. We have been on this site for over a year now reading the mail everyday. We have lived vicariously through all your travels and trials on your C-Dorys. We look forward to adding our own adventures now. This is a wonderful resource and we expect to take full advantage of it. Marc at Weifings is a great dealer, he gave us a ride on a new EC when we first started looking. We just could not take advantage of the great price he offered at this time.

We go to get our Texas registration this morning and this afternoon we will give Jim of Wild Blue a tour and ride. He got us started on this quest when we saw Wild Blue at his home near us.

We had dinner last night at a friend's home and saw Leonard returning on his R25, a beautiful sight as he eased down the canal and docked at his house a couple of doors down from where we were visiting.

We picked out the name "Los Gueros" long before we acquired the little Tug. Los Gueros is a slang term loosely meaning the fair or blond ones or as I say the white boys. We thought it appropriate for this location. There is a derelict shrimp boat just off the intercoastal here named that....we do not think they will mind. But since she is home in her little "Tug House", it just does not seem quite right. My wife's name is Wilma, affectionately called Willie. So she may be named "Willie's Tug" or "Willie's Lil' Tug". Any suggestions will be considered.

Herb and Wilma , congrats on the Tug ! You will enjoy it , I am sure . Hope to see you at the next Gulf Coast Gathering ! If we can help you with anything [maybe retrofitting the Rotax and Jet Pump system] let us know .

Actually that is the 215 hp Rotax engine and drive from the SeaDoo. Since I sold it to my next door neighbor, it is available.....maybe Marc can come down here some weekend and we can git er done. Might have to put some floats on the sides to keep the little fellow up right though.

Just to be clear, you are talking about replacing the R21 diesel with the Rotax? Isn't that like 5x more power?

Yes, from 18 hp to 215. Marc just does not believe that I will be happy puttering around the Laguna Madre at 5 or 6 knots after zipping around at 50 mph on the SeaDoo. He would rather see me in a 25 C-Dory or Ranger Tug. Maybe someday when I get to doing better.

Humor, argh, argh! (old Mork and Mindy reference). Marc is "funnin'" Herb. Some folks think that once you go fast, you won't be happy going slow. Herb is an old guy, Warren... he'll be happy to just GO. :wink: :mrgreen:

Now, if Herb were to mount that jet drive to use as a thruster on that 21, he could "park" that boat at 30 knots! "Put out the BIG fenders, Wilma!!!" :mrgreen:

I'm looking forward to seeing the boat this afternoon.
