2007
C Dory Model
255 Tomcat
Vessel Name
Napoleon
We had incredibly strong winds in the NE today. I went outside to check on the boat and found a large portion of a tree had fallen but thankfully missed the boat. The top of good size tree basically broke off and fell straight down like a spear; it went into the ground 1 foot before toppling over away from my boat! I could not believe the depth of the hole in the (partially frozen) ground just from the weight of this thing.

I'll need to borrow a chainsaw to cut it down to pieces I can carry. Right now it's about 30' long.

It would have caused a lot of damaged if it landed on Napoleon!

That was close.

We've been lucky, too.
Where we store our boat, there have been a few thefts in the past couple months--- someone tried to steal the engine off Vanasea (a C-Dory 22) - they cut all the cables, but couldn't get the engine off.
Then someone stole a new C-Dory 22 from the dealer and it was found about 5 miles away- minus the engine.

Here I thought that only Floridians had to worry about hurricanes! Just joking-glad that there was no damage! Have fun with the firewood.

Matt, sounds like Thanksgiving and Christmas all rolled up into one. Thanks for not being under that when it came down, and Christmas that it didn't hit the boat.
