Hi all,
Where can I find out information about how to install curtains ? I seached the site but didn't come across anything yet. Just thought someone knew a short cut to the right page? Thanks..Tracy
 
The Andersons on Daydream have great looking curtains. I hope this link takes you to their album. Just look for customizations in Daydream and open that album. I like the track above the windows instead of canvas that snaps directly on the window frame.

Foggy Dew also has a nice set up for curtains on their 22 Curtains_up.thumb.jpg Their curtains roll up, look good and don't need stored when not in use.

Mine are factory and snap onto the window frame. The front window also snaps on the outside of the window. That is not fun at night when its cold and the boat has a little ice in spots. PIC00009.thumb.jpg Like I said you have to store them when not in use and it's all or none on each window. You can't leave it partially open.
 
If you want to go the inexpensive bare-bones route, simply put a line of velcro (the hooks side) down the cabin sides and get some terrycloth towels. They stick to velcro like velcro. For less than a $20 bill, you have curtains and emergency towels.
 
Hey Jeff, you can have partial opening with your factory window covers; we added another snap in the top/middle of the long windows - no sag and you can leave the front or the back down. We also use a small clip to open just a corner of the window... for a bit of light in the morning and to let Molly look outside (she likes to lay on the back of the forward dinette seat and look out the window).

That long outside windshield cover is great when you are in a slip, but not particularly convenient when you are at anchor (where you may need to see outside in a hurry if there is big change in the weather). You can remove it without going outside by reaching out both side windows and unsnapping it and dragging it in through one window. At anchor, we use the "pop-up" windshield covers that you use in a car... they are the larger size, so two of them will cover the whole windshield of our 25. And unlike the outside cover, you can use those while towing to keep the boat cooler inside. Silver on one side, blue on the other (so they match the boat).

While Joan has made curtains for our other boats, I like the Sunbrella window covers on Wild Blue... not frilly, kinda goes with the character of the boat.

What tools and supplies do I need to do the same & where did you buy yours?

We bought a couple packages at Lowe's, that have 7 or 8 snaps in each package. You can also get them at West Marine. It comes with a awl-type tool for pounding the snap, you provide the hammer. Nothing tough about it it - I did it. :wink

Joan also made a Sunbrella cover (that matches the window covers) for the front hatch over the v-berth; keeps the light out and is warmer when it is chilly. I put the snaps in... the kit comes with what you need for both sides of the snaps.

Bonnie is in the process of making rollup curtains out of Sunbrella. We do
not believe her sewing machine will stitch a double layer of Sunbrella, so
she is using Stitch Witchery (iron on glue) to make the hems. If the
glue starts to let go, we'll remove and have the local tailor shop stitch it.
They can sew denim, so they should be able to do the Sunbrella if needed.

Just posted some pics of the curtains we made in my album. I think they turned our quite nicely. We were able to use some rods from Ikea https://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/70299153/ Ikea Vdga. They make flush mount brackets for the rails that are adjustable allowing me to use the existing screws holding the drop ceiling. This made the install easy. Cut to length or extend with included HW. For the front windows we picked up some snaps from west marine; you want the 5/8th length not 3/8ths should you want to do this. Total project cost 30 dollars for rods, 50 bucks for snaps and 120$ for Sunbrella fabric with room to spare from sailright.com

we also made some tie backs with the same material - no picture of this at present will upload later.

Hope this helps someone else. My wide did a great job sewing with limited experience.
