I don't have the answer, but I do have the question!! How can the C-Brats get a trip to Cuba going?

Next May or June would be great time to go. "Education" is a justified reason, among others.

Answers anyone??

tomtom 1941 Hi and don't know if you have looked around on this site for this topic but if not, you are not the only one thinking about this. See this thread:

I just linked it to here, to bring it back up and maybe this is a bit on a different angle, but I thought the other thread has some great comments that apply too.

I would love to take the trip to Cuba to see all of those old cars.
But I am not going to pull my CD back to Fla. from Alaska.

From Whitehorse, Yukon down the Yukon R. to the Bering Sea is another trip I would like to take.

Running out of life time. So much to do....so little time.

New rules in effect for Cuban relations
Posted on 23 September 2015
The Obama administration eased rules Friday for U.S. citizens wishing to travel to Cuba or do business with its growing ranks of independent entrepreneurs, hoping to kindle greater economic freedom on the island.

The Treasury and Commerce departments told the Associated Press that regulations taking effect today simplify procedures for tourism, telephone and Internet investments, and money transfers to Cuba.

Authorized American citizens now will be able to travel by cruise ship or ferry to Cuba without seeking specific authorization from the U.S. government, although a U.S. official told the Associated Press that a direct maritime route probably won’t be established until next year.

The official was not authorized to speak publicly on the process and demanded anonymity.

If you go to Cuba, remember that there are no facilities as we consider a "marina"--even at Hemmingway. Look at the experience of the recent "international" fishing tournament. Power available sporadically, and voltage often very low. At that time severe restrictions about going anywhere without permission. Water questionable quality, and again not always available. Not a fancy "yacht club"…

My concern would be the size of our boats--I would be much more likely to go in a larger boat--which is fully self contained--and were I would not need any shore side support. (Saying this after having spent 3 1/2 weeks, totally independent on Lake Powell, except fresh waterl…--but not a privacy, or security issue there--as there might be in Cuba.) I have a number of friends who have cruised Cuba (some illegally). They had issues with the bureaucracy, time of check in and check out. If I was to cruise Cuba, I would prefer the more remote South Coast. (We had planned this in 1996, just before the two US light planes were shot down after dropping leaflets. After this incident, we were concerned about how we would be accepted. As it turns out, it would have been OK. (we met several US boats who were there at that time, and no problems).

Hopefully things will sort out eventually.
