Hi
I'm thinking of replacing the prop on my cdory 25/ 135 honda. Currently I have a s 3/141/2 x 15.
My max rpm is about 5300, with just me onboard, and max speed is about 22 knots.
I talked to Powertech and they suggested a sce 3r 15p clh 200. These numbers don't mean much to me but I wonder if they make sense to anyone on line.
I know a few 25's with 150's use a four bladed clh200Ofs4r14p.
I run my boat with six people on board, so I'm pretty heavy.
any thoughts????????
I use to just reef the main, or roll up the jib, seems rather easy compared to figuring out props.

I have an S 3X15 1/2 X 15R on my 150. I think I am about 5800at WOT. On fairly good water that gets me about 27 kts. This is the prop that Les suggested after testing several on 25's.
 
I speak Powertech ! [reminds me of the scene in Airplane!when June Cleaver says "I speak Jive"]. The CLH refers to the hub . It is the Honda V6 size hub . The mystical letters and numbers other than L and R refer to the blade shape [ rake,cup,pitch,etc..]of which Powertech has many choices available. So many, I am not sure that they always know what works best . Two things going on . One is it's a 135 ,not a 150. Not as much grunt at the top end without the V Tec but still plenty of power .Two is that you carry a heavy load . Probably will require a min. 2" lower pitch and smaller diameter prop to run properly . A honda P/N
58233-ZY3-A13H 3X13.25X13 would probably be a good choice and get you closer to the upper 5ks with a load .

Lots of factors to consider, and I am no expert...but we moved from the Honda 14.5 x 15 x 3 SS prop to a 15.5 x 15 x 3 AL Quicksilver prop some time ago. The Honda prop was winding to too high an RPM, not very good performance or economy. We consider ourselves to be fairly heavily loaded but nothing like you with six people I would think! The Quicksilver 15.5 x 15 x 3 aluminum prop was fairly inexpensive and performs great. With your heavy load, I am guessing you would want something like our Honda 14.5 x 15 x3 SS or even smaller diameter and/or pitch...
 
Find a prop shop that will let you try a few out you might have to leave a deposit but it will be worth it . I have the 23 cape cruiser which weighs about 2800 lb plus eng ,gas ,water ,stuff so Im about 4000lb cruising 700 lb lighter then a cd-25 but we have a f115 yamaha on it it had a 13 1/2 diam 17 pitch 3 bladed alum. she would do about 5700-5900rpm at about 34 mph lightly loaded boat 2people some gas 30gallons . I wanted more mid-range grunt so i went witha 13 1/4 by 13 pitch 4 bladed s/s prop gets up to 55800-5900 rpm and top end is about 32mph . You have to decide whether you want speed or mid-range grunt I think with 6 people you would want a power prop .Think of your propeller as the rear end ratio in your tow truck the higher the gear ratio the better it will pull through the mountains witha propeller it the opposite 13pitch vs 17 more low end power in the 13pitch. ON the other hand just do what Mark from Wefings tells you to do He has it covered ,just my 2 cents Jim on Duck
 
I am running the Honda 4 blade `13,25 (dia) x 13 pitch on a 130 Honda; loaded boat---and max speed is about 20 knots and 5500. Not sure if the gearing is the same on the 135, but I usually run at 4600 to 4800 at 14.8 to 15.8 knots. There is a lot of slip with this prop and Power Tech suggested that I drop down to an 14 x 11 pitch 3 blade SS. That just seems too radical for me....(I have a 14 x 13 Aluminum 3 blade I have not yet tried).

I would agree with Mark about dropping the pitch, but not sure about dropping the diameter--since you want as much blade area as possaible....
 
Les suggested a 3x 15 1/2 x 13.
I guess he knows his stuff, any comments, this seems like a crap shoot trying to get it right.
 
You will be lucky to pick up 200-300 RPMs with the 15X13. Unless it is a flat barge prop .If its got more cup than your current prop you wont gain much. You are way over propped now . You need 500 RPMs. Thats gonna be a lower pitch and smaller diameter .The cup will help it "bite".You just gotta try em and see. Motors in general are happier in their upper RPM Ranges.

Thank you Marc. This is the first place I have seen the 4 blade prop I have on the 130--and gives me some other (expensive) options for this engine.
 
An interesting thing about Honda , they will use and resell [reasonably] anybody's prop they want to . No private label limited choices . The Mercury ,Tohatsu and Honda lower units are generally the same . Merc has a huge selection of props and probably is one of the more advanced prop builders in the world . Wonder why they cant make a lower unit that doesnt go "clunk" and sound like it is coming apart when you shift ................?????? Solas is from Taiwan and makes good quality, reasonably priced props in a number of shapes that work well with Hondas . Alot of the Honda embossed props are Solas. Turbo and Precision Props are U.S Made and also offered by Honda . Good quality ,expensive, and getting whipped in the market by Solas on value.
Some times an Aluminum prop is better for performance and economy as the rotating mass of the heavy stainless takes energy to turn . Bob , you might try an aluminum 3 blade on the 130 .Go up an inch in pitch as a general rule when going from 4 to 3 blades . Ill bet you pick up speed .

Thanks Marc, I do have a 14 x 13 Michigan Aluminum 3 blade prop--not as much cup or rake as the Honda 4 blade 13.25 x 13 (and the 3/4", plus going to 3 blade probably will do as you suggest. The 4 is working well enough, but we will have the dinghy in the water at Chatterbox falls, and I may swap out there for a trial.
 
Ill be interested in the results . I try to store as much prop info as I can in my mental databank.
You're missing some classic t storm action here on the gulf .Dont worry about watering your yard....... A friends house got struck yesterday ,caught on fire ,killed dog [staked in yard] and 16 year old cat [smoke inhalation] .
