Damn neighborhood has become infested with cats. They keep jumping up on the boat and marking it as their turf...the nerve.

Any good cat repellent ideas? I've checked in to renting some coyotes but had no luck, bought some repellent to sprinkle on the ground, no luck. I have a bunch of sticky paper mouse traps on the boat now and hope to at least get some satisfaction from seeing one of the little bast۩&$ wondering about wearing some sticky paper
 
We have a neighbor that puts food out for cats...
When I'd had it with then sleeping on my Jeep's seats I put out tape mines, sticky side up. It worked.
I tried tape webs hoping they'd get tangled in them. The singular mines worked better.
 
Cat proof steps.
1. catch cat in live trap
2. power wash cat for half hour
3. let cat out never to be seen again.
4. repeat with all cats that border your home.
5. don't get caught.

Worked for a fishing buddy of mine. Once the cat has been trained not to come near your place they also act as a boarder. Cats will not let other cats cross their turf. To all the cat lover out there, would you let the neighbors dog piss on you boat or car??? So why is it OK to let your cat run wild?? and yes I have owned cats , not that it matters

Actually, I don't advocate that, but a live trap, and a trip to the humane society is appropriate.

I have two cats, when my CD22 is parked in front of my house one of them likes to lie on the roof and survey her domain. The other one has no interest in the boat. Either way I have no problem with marking of territory.

I have heard that putting set mousetraps under newspaper where the cats try to go is effective. If they step on the paper the trap goes off. This un-nerves the cat but usually doesn't hurt them (if you care).
 
I had a friend who had neighborhood cats invading his flower beds. He buried mousetraps just below the surface of the dirt. He described seeing cats going straight up several feet when they set one off. It would be fun to watch! I imagine a few set in the boat would have the same effect. :lol:

That's what my brother in law does and they really don't come back.
 
I like the idea of water boarding cats. I do have mouse traps every where and they get tripped daily, so we either have a bunch of cats, or, a bunch of stupid cats

I wasn't going to take the bait, but...

Tom says something about the SeaHawks, and the villagers start gathering pitchforks and torches. He talks about waterboarding cats, and he gets a bunch of "atta-boys."

Next time that unleashed dog of yours sticks his head in our cockpit, he can expect a face full of water from our washdown pump. While I reach for the bear spray.

For Ken, live trap 'em and turn them over to Animal Control. Responsible owners shouldn't let their animals wander. If they're feral, they need to be neutered so the problem doesn't expand.

For discussion sake, there is a difference between spraying a cat with a garden hose to keep it away and powerwashing a captured animal (cruelty).

I like cats, our C-Dory cat passed away a couple of years ago and it was a tough loss, the old hairball had been a member of our family for about 18 years. These are feral, wild arse rouge cats. I'm to lazy to bust out the psi washer but I can see the beauty of a garden hose....

I've heard that mothballs work, that may be my next step. Stick some containers of mothballs about the boat...at least I won't have moths


we never had cat problems when we had a cat, he was like the Richard Sherman of cats, patrolling the field intercepting any strays :)

Nah, I'm not upset, Charlie. Spraying cats are a problem. Just like letting dogs wander off-leash when there are leash laws is a problem. No one wants their boat getting sprayed or a kid getting bit in the face. Responsible owners eliminate problems. If the cats are feral, that problem will only get worse if people don't nip that (pun intended) in the bud.

Years ago, when we had a sailboat in a slip in a marina, I used to find evidence that my boat was being "invaded." It wasn't a cat, it was a guy who thought my boat was a comfortable place to fish. He left beer cans, dead bait, and fish hooks on the nets on my boat. I finally caught him in the act... neutering is a powerful deterrent. :twisted:
