I have a trivia question....

Who holds the record for the most C Dory's bought and sold in 12 months?

I'm just curious that's all. I have bought 3 C Dory's in the last 12 months and have sold 2 of them. I'm not exactly proud of this feat; I think it's crazy the way I went about it! Lol. But it just happened to play out this way.

---I bought the 16 in August of 2015 and sold it in January of 2016.

---Then I bought the 19 in February of 2016 and sold it in August.

---And now I just bought a 25!.......Marc from Wefings emailed me and said that the Tomcat is next.

Let that be a lesson to all you youngsters out there, DON'T DO WHAT I DID! LOL. Oh, wait. Maybe I'm the youngest Brat on the site, not sure. I'm 34 years old. I hope there's some younger blood out there......

I've been quietly watching you buying and selling those boats and found it fun to live vicariously through you! You just experienced two foot-itus a little stronger and faster than most. I've done the same thing, it just took me 17 years and 9 boats to get to the 23' we have now. I never did go smaller, every boat was a little bigger. I've only had one C-dory though, but we loved that boat.

It may be a record I'm not sure, since I've been a c-brat I haven't seen it. Good for you though! I hope the 25 is the perfect fit and you can put some serious nautical miles on her.

As for the youngest c-brat, we're the same age I'm 34. I was 30 when we bought our c-dory but its gone now that we live in a much hotter climate. My wife is 25, but our daughter pretty much grew up on the boat in the San Juan Islands and Puget sound. She's 4 now and still talks about all the fun she had on that c-dory, fishing and hanging around marinas. I think its more rare that people our age can prioritize boating, but its been a really great family activity for us. I can't say it hasn't been a financial strain, but its worth it, we are a boating family and the times are priceless. Good luck with the 25, I always really liked that boat.

I would bet you would win for the quickest turnover of multiple C-Dorys, heck some dealers would like to move their boats that fast! :D I too have had 3 C-Ds.
It took me 4 years to do so though. I had a 16 for 2 years, a 22 for 2 years and now a 25 for the last 11. I still look but so far haven't moved any larger.
Cheers

I would be interested in who has owned the same C-Dory the longest. I bought our 16 Angler "new" in March-1990 and we still own and enjoy her 26 years later.

I suspect it is a record, for boat turn over. But as I told Marie, I wonder when Jason calls about advice on that 35 foot sport fisher? :) Stick with the 25 for at least a couple of years! When you went to the 19, I had a suspicion that you would go bigger. However most go to the 22 from the 19.

I believe that here have been younger owners; I believe that one was 22 years old. A few under 30.

I have owned a number of boats, but cannot remember any that I kept less than 2 years--and that was a 13 footer in the late 1950's, which I traded for a 35 HP motor to put on 15 foot boat which was my "dream" at that time...(OK it did have a small hole in the Varnished mahogany plywood hull--but I scarfed a patch in-not noticeable, since it was in the bottom. which was painted.)

I have owned the 1983 since 1995 but I have a 14 ft aluminum Hewscraft that I got for my 12th birthday. I am now 62 so you do the math....lol....
in the last two years we have had a 25 cruiser then a 22 cruiser and now we have the 1995 angler.and also a used 14 ft Lund for crabbing.
now that shrimping is over I can clean up the 83 and get her ready to go down the road to someone who wants a great fishing and shrimping platform.

I still wonder if you might not also have to buy a 22' at some point just to "fill in the blank"

One of my quests for this summers cruise up north was to find a C-Dory owned by Alexandra Mortin, famous for her Orca research and then moving on towards salmon research, in the wild sustainable areas. She has owned a C-Dory, the same one since early or mid 1980's. (82 -84), and I found it, still in her possession, this summer. It has a new Yamaha engine, and other than that, it looks it's age, but is still afloat and looks very serviceable

That puts her in the 30 or 30+.years with the same boat.

Sam Landsman (editor of Waggoner's cruising guide) turns 27 today. He circumnavigated Vancouver Island in a 22 a few years ago. He now owns a Nordic Tug but is still on the site. So yes, there is younger blood here.
