We are going to bring our Hobie tandem to Lake Powell, and I would like to put it on the cabin top when trailering, rather than have it on top of the pop-up camper. It weighs about 80 pounds, and makes raising the pop-up awkward. It can be done, but I would prefer to have it elsewhere.

That said, what is the general opinion about trailering with 80 pounds on the cabin top? I believe that George Roach traveled with two singles on the top of his Cape Cruiser, but I would like to hear from others like Casey, or Jay and Jody with their Mokis.

Steve, no problem if you can balance & secure it on the roof or rack. We made one trip from Wyoming to Skagway, Alaska & back with the Mokia on top of the CD when we had the Eagle Cap truck camper on the truck & without fuel tank & engine the Mokai weighs 100 lbs.

There's a photo of it up on the CD in our photo album in the sub album of our 2010 Alaska cruise. I'm on the IPad & can't get it to show here.

We'll have two Pelican 10' kayaks on top of Daydream, done by many of course, not an issue. REALLY looking forward to getting back to Powell, the warm water, and daily paddling! Baxter loves the kayaks!

You should have no problem. We've cruised many miles with 4 - 55 lb shrimp pots strapped to the roof, and didnt see any flexing or issues at all. I don't normally like to keep that much weight up so high on the boat, but as far as the roof strength is concerned, it was no problem!
