CA Made Fire Boat Flips....?

Bet it wouldn't have happened to a Rosborough!

Hey Byrdman!

Read the following article and see what Bob Rosborough (you know, the guy you work with at Rosborough Boats) thinks of the FireHawk 28:

Fire-boat flipping raises questions

Much more narrow than I would have expected.

Looks like it was designed to flip. It's got a roll bar on it!

Some of the boats illustrated show two 250 hp outboards, plus the jet drive --I wounder if someone got carried away with sharp turns and high power?

Also they show the boat running with both seven foot side rescue doors open--look like they are just skimming the water.

One of the "features" of the boat is that it uses the same engine to power a 1200 G/minute pump and the jet drive. Many fire boats use a secondary engine for the pump--and the main engine / thrusters to maintain position.

A Cat also makes a good fire boat, with its stability and low wake at higher speeds.

Hey, any of our C-Brat fireman or CA boat builders know any more details about this?
Byrdman

Patrick, I don't know any more details, but I'm guessing someone on board lit a match to try out that new fire suppression system......you know the one that makes the vessel turn turtle in the water, when it senses the vessel is on fire. :wink

This is what happens when wake boarders design boats.

Interesting!

The Halifax, Nova Scotia Fire and Rescue service decides to buy a boat from California, despite there being highly qualiified local Halifax boat builders to select from, including Rosborough.

Should be some red faces in the department to match their new "California Dreamin" speed boat.

Looks like they got what they deserved for showing their loyalty to their local businesses and citizenry!

I'll bet there's a real story behind this story that won't be told in the media.

I would say that they got what they paid for....LOW BIDDER.

Yep....much chatter on the matter in Halifax....or Rosboroughville.

Did get a chance for a thrill ride on one of Bob's comercial boats last time I was in Halifax with Bob...

WOW... Glad we had great seats and hand rails. Many fast very, very, did I say very hard turns. Not my type of boating, but it for sure was one bad A$$ boat!

I liked the roll bar!! Grin
