c-dory's 4 sale

do boats advertised on the c-brat site, for sale actually get sold to a c-brat or someone visiting this site? i'm going to sell my boat but haven't decided if i should list it here, among other places. the guys who own this site could not be more helpful, so, it's nothing to do with that.
any knowledge of actual sales would be of great help.
thanks
pat

ps: only selling boat not resigning as a c-brat, sorry you're stuck with me!

I sold my 91 22 Cruiser on this site. Sold in a week. The new owner then became a member here, but not a very active member.

That boat has since been resold, by a dealer, I think.

After becoming friends with a bunch of C-Brats, leaving the site is not an option! :wink

If anyone is looking for a C-Dory, they would find this forum. You are not "preaching to the choir" here. I can't imagine a better place to sell a C-Dory... unless you would be consigning it with a dealer.

Good luck with the sale.

Best wishes,
Jim

thanks jim,
i've emailed da nag for his advice on how best to post info on my boat for sale.
raining here in cincinnati, all weekend, hope your area is doing better than that.

I sold 3 of my C-Dory boats withing a very, very short period of time on the C-Brat site. One, I sold and did not even put it on the site, as another C-Brat saw I was getting another boat and just made me an offer on it. Having said that, I did ask him to give me first buyers option if he choses to sell it ....

On this site, folks know what a C-Dory is. You do not have to list the paper towel holders and stuff.... just the boat, motors, trailer, and any "large" improvements .... and, you do not get as many crazies as craig list of folks just attempting to beat you out of a boat cause the industry is down. There are some, but the good news is generally, there are enough serious folks looking for the boats on this site, that, well, if priced properly, the boat will sell in about a week with some "current pics" exchanged via emails.

My experience on here anyway.

This site is the best place in the world to buy or sell a C dory.

Though we did not buy our boat off this site, we used the site to indicate interest in buying.
I posted a wanted to buy, was contacted by 3 individuals wanting to sell. The boat we bought was owned by a brat that rarely posted and hadn't listed it yet.

There are a surprising number of C dory owners that never register themselves but visit here a lot. Even more who know nothing of the site because they don't have or use use a PC.
Then there are the wannabes. They sometime have some money too. :wink

I posted our boat for sale last June on this site. I received several responses the day that I posted. Two people wanted it immediately. The folks that bought it flew in the next day from Vancouver Island with a full price cash offer and met me at the boat. They didn't post here, but were watching the site because they were interested in a C-Dory. They flew in because I told them that I would take the first full price offer.

I didn't even have time to clean the interior. Admittedly, my price was low, but I still was amazed by the response. I don't even want to think about what I would have had to wade through in posting it on craigslist first. Except for people who don't use the internet I think that this site is the first place people looking for a C-Dory will check out.

We purchased our 1990, 16 Angler in Idaho Falls last October, we live in Iowa (four days round trip).

The boat was only listed on C-brats and we purchased shortly after boat was listed (because it was priced right, many are unrealistic in today's climate).

The seller also reduced the price some in consideration of our travel cost.

Our 1983, 22 Classic was purchased privately, after the boat had been listed on Ebay several times without any bidders (purchase price was less than the Ebay starting price).

You be the judge.

I bought and sold my 22 on this site. I bought and sold my 25 on this site--and when I sell my Tom Cat, it will be on this site.

These are the people who know C Dories--if people are looking for one, they come here. In each boat I sold, I had several parties interested.

I have also looked at several boats for others who ended up buying them from this site. This one or of the dealers who frequents this site, is the only way to go.

I bought 'Fan-C-Dory' from this site, and will probably sell it on this site. Butttt - you naturally are going to want the largest proper exposure you can get. I'd stay away from Craigs, Ebay, Thrifty Ads, Peddler & etc,

Two years ago sold my 22' on C-Brats. It took 10 months at the depth of the downturn - probably because I asked too much, and didn't include a trailer. Had also tried Craig's List, Boat Trader, Boat US, local paper. Got serious inquiries only from the C-Brats site.

In the past sold other boats quickly by parking them on a busy road with a sign in the window.

We became members here long before we bought our boat. The only ones we looked at were listed on this site, as was the one we purchased. Wait - I take that back - we looked at one from a now ex-dealer in the area before they became ex.
