C-Dory Sightings

We met Larry and Nancy on the Jacari Maru at Friday Harbor in the San Juan Islands last Wednesday, September 19th. We had a great time discussing C-Dories past and present as well as a tour of the Jacari Maru. Considerably more living space than the Notayot! They have been to Alaska and back this summer.

Met Tim Flanagan and Two Lucky Fish at Ivars dock on Lake Union. We had a pleasant chat but his two young girls were about to sail away without him so we had to cut it short. Looks like his motor problems have been repaired.

Was pulling up from fishing cutthroat today on Lake Washington near Pleasure Pt. As I looked back saw a blue trimmed new 22' C-Dory. Turns out to be "Last Frontier". We circled each other for awhile, and I got some pictures. Welcome Lacey and family!

Spotted 'Red Snapper' on north Lake Washington. Pulled up to say hello to the Dad and his son who were fishing. Nice older 16 footer with teak handrails and two downriggers (not in use).

I was at the end of my dock today loading my boat for a little fishing trip (caught 26 whiting) and at a distance I saw what appeared to be a C-Dory coming down the ICW heading south. As it got closer I recognized it as a 25' CD blue with full camper canvas and no name. I didn't see what state it was from. The captain pulled over about 100 feet from my dock and called out "Nice Boat". I returned the compliment. He continued on down the waterway. I'm at MM 46.

Saw Penelope (Bergundy 22' ?) Heading North past the house, in the Swinomish Channel, Last week.....How did they get past that log boom in "Hole-in-the-wall"? :xseek

Hi all,
Larry and I were on our way home from the Oriental Christmas parade and saw a C-Dory on Hwy 70 NC in Goldsboro. It was called the Minute Man. Anybody know them ? It was a nicel looking boat. We didn't have ours with us this time because it was just to crowded down there . They had the boats all lite up Friday and they did a nice cruise I heard. I did take photos of them . One day I'll sit here and add all of our gathering,St.Johns and Christmas photos. LOL Trust me the boats I saw were just too COOL ! Palm trees pink birds, Christmas trees with dancing Santa's etc.. you get the idea. The parade was nothing to sneeze at either. Wish you all could have come down to see and cruise together again ! Take care, Tracy

I believe Penelope lives in the Cornet Bay Marina (where EQ is located.) I saw the boat in the EQ shop earlier in the week and that is what I remember they told me. So it would not be far from there to the Swinomish Channel.

Yesterday afternoon I had the privilege of going out with my neighbor on the JC Lately and at the John Wayne dock we saw a 22 Cruiser, the Mary Ellen. They had been out crabbing, limited and enjoying the beautiful day. I was at the dock again today, and saw them out checking pots again today, while it was snowing. :tux

That was Tom and Peggy. They are from North Carolina. Bob and I ran into them in Sanford at the dock. Nice folks. We had dinner together at the German restaurant there. Too bad we didn't see ya. We spent four days on the river. I just got back last night. I left C-Pearl at Big Boy Toys in Palatka to get some work done. I hope to head down with Cathy for another trip real soon before we go to the Destin area.

Thanks for solving the mystery Jeff. You'll be happy with Big Boys they are nice people and have good service. I'll be going to NC next month around Wilmington maybe I'll run into them.

Great Photo, thanks!

Just for you Byrdman! Not really a C-Dory, but I believe a Rosborough design w/o the rear cockpit overhead. Check it out, very unusual to see this boat here in So Cal between Anacapa and Santa Cruz islands (Sep'07). It was about 1/2 mile or more away and moving fast, I knew it was different. Zoomed in as far as I dared with my camera, I was still going 15+ kts (and driving), took 15 pictures, these are the clearest ones. I cropped some for better viewing, resolution just not there.

Nice to see Checkpoint II on the lake today. Its always good day when the first boat you see is a C-Dory. Had a nice trip around Mercer Island with a friend. Just had to get out on the boat, even if it was just for a short time.

Saw the Mary Ellen, CD-22 Cruiser at the John Wayne Marina on the first day of the Discovery Bay Salmon derby. They said it was a nice day on the water in response to "How was the fishing?"
