C-Dory Sightings

I could have sworn I saw a 22' named "Captains Choice" being towed North on I-5 between Arlington and Mt. Vernon today, but I haven't heard Charlie say that he was going to be in Washington State this week. ?????
Charlie, are you still East of the Mississippi?

Two more C-dory sightings/visits today! We are back in Bellingham, after some service at the factory. We will be heading back to the San Juans in the morning. This morning, we visited with Joe and Ruth (R-Matey) on their way out, and just this afternoon, I had the pleasure to meet Dave and family aboard Sea Shift as they were heading out. We'll look for y'all tomorrow.

The folks on the boat right behind us at the dock commented: "You seem to know a bunch of C-Dory folks, huh?" My reply: "I have a lot of friends out there that I haven't had the chance to meet face-to-face, yet. I'm doing what I can to remedy that." :D

Best wishes,
Jim B.

Wild Blue, we just crossed paths! We head home from the San Juans tomorrow AM. We had hailed you a few times but the factory is out of range.

We did see Tesoro on their last night of a 2 month cruise. We visited for an hour in Prevost Harbor. Wonderful folks, they'll be back soon.

Sorry we missed you, Roger. I'll be looking foward to a face-to-face one day. Sounds like there will be lots of C-Brats folks in the San Juans this week. Give us a call on 16 if you see a blue 25 wandering rather aimlessly tomorrow.

Best wishes,
Jim B.

Jim (and others) - you might try setting your VHF to dual watch 68 / 16. The NW C-Brat convention has been to both hail and communicate on 68.

Went to the Gig Harbor city dock last night to pick up some friends for a picnic, and tied up in front of Can-Dory, a really pristine 84 Angler with a nice row of registration stickers all the way to 84. I didn't see the owners, but I would have like to ask them about the storage added on top of the batteries in front of the motor. It matches the construction/finish of the rest of the pit so well, it looks factory.

As we headed back in, we said hello to Mar-T, 19 Angler from Olalla fishing in front of the mouth of the harbor.

Yesterday afternoon around 2pm, while on I-405 Southbound around Renton, I saw DAYDREAM headed North by trailer. A few minutes later, I saw a whole big rig full of shrink-wrapped Sea Rays headed Southbound, looking very bling-blingy and un-original. Wouldn't trade the Jenny G. for 'em all.... ... .... or my boat :xnaughty

No doubt Daydream's out for another adventure.

Hey, Thursday at 7:40 a.m. while riding my bike to work I spotted a 22' Angler fishing off Leshi on Seattle's Lake Washington. Who might that have been?

Friday afternoon Daydream was on her way back from the C-Dory factory where she had some glass repair, later that day we launched at Everett and overnighted at Port Ludlow, back in the driveway yesterday evening. We saw Caution Horse, a gray CD25, on our way back to the boat ramp at Everett.

Caryn & I took my parents, who are vacationing from California, out on C-Dancer for the very first time. We cruised over to Lopez and stayed at the Lopez Islander on Saturday. We had the good fortune to meet up with Jim and Joan on the Wild Blue who are still out enjoying the beautiful San Juans on their spanking new boat. We also met Kevin and Tammy on the Dog House, another new CD, this time a black-trimmed 22. It was great meeting new C-Brat friends. We also saw an old C-Brat friend, Corwin of Little Catelyn, Sunday at Twin Bridges.

The weather was fantastic, great water conditions. All in all, it was another fun and relaxing trip in a number of wonderful trips taken during this spectacular summer in the great PNW!

Not a C-Dory sighting exactly, but at Patty's Ingraham High School class reunion yesterday, one of her friends told Patty that her son had just purchased a 22' C-Dory which is kept on Shaw Island. The name of the boat is Short Story, although the name is not on the side of the boat yet. We gave her the URL for C-Brats, she said she would mention it to him.

Spotted Tommy-D at Golden Gardens in seattle on saturday. Also spotted a grey/white 16' cruiser entering Blake Island marina on saturday. Had a nice visit with Raven Dancer on sunday at poulsbo. Really nice, comfortable, boat. Nice folks as well. Saw a couple of anglers out on lake washington on friday.

Reading about all these unplanned meetings among you on the left coast makes me a little jealous. Over here on the Massachusetts coast I never see another C-Dory. We do, however, get a LOT of long stares and the occasional admiring comment. It's probably just a matter of time before C-Dory fever strikes here. Get ready New Hampshire Guy!

Saturday, we overnighted at Jarrell's Cove Marina on Harstene Island and spotted a grey 22' Cruiser at the state park. Sunday morning, we motored over and introduced ourselves to the crew of the C-Sick. Interestingly, we saw C-Sick on its trailer leaving the Des Moines Marina just as we were coming up from our slip.

Just got some internet coverage again, after a few days without. A couple days ago, we saw Joe and Ruth (R-Matey) again, this time in Blind Bay. Next day, we ran into Dave, Carol, and Jessie aboard Sea Shift, and had a couple very nice visits (they were in the marina at Deer Harbor, we were on the hook and dinghied in to see them). Carol gave us some whale photos to post, but we have been without a signal... and then yesterday, we some some Orcas up close and personal, too! One of the highlights of this trip...

Two nights ago in Fisherman's Bay, at Lopez Islander, we met Peter and Caryn (and Peter's parents) aboard C-Dancer; more great folks. Shortly after that, we visited with Kevin and Tammy from DogHouse... their reservation at the Islander (as well as ours and a BUNCH of others) got shuffled around. Even though they had to spend the night at the gas pump, it appears that Kevin was NOT in the "DogHouse". :wink

Yesterday, while whale watching, we came across Ramblin' Rose (from Oregon) in the passage between San Juan Island and Stuart Island, and just gave a quick "Nice boat" back and forth.

No other C-Dorys at the anchorage last night, but here's a shot of my favorite time of day, sunrise, this morning...

We'll be looking for more C-Dorys!

Best wishes,
Jim & Joan B.
