C-Dory Sightings

At Hilton Harbor yesterday and today helping friend Larry Grunden erect his Shelter Logic boat shelter for his new-to-him Nordic 26 Wigeon. There are two C-Dorys at Hilton Harbor, an old CD22 Angler named Retreat and a CD22 Cruiser named Sans Souci. Have not checked to see if either one has posted here...

Yesterday, we saw a C-Dory being trailered southbound through Key Largo. We saw it too late to observe the name.

How many C Brats are now in the Florida Keys?

Liz and I are here on the big island of Hawaii and while out driving around yesterday we saw a 22 parked in someone's yard could not read a name on it. Larry

I guess this thread is as good as any for C-BRAT sightings as well as C-Dory sightings! At Palm Creek RV Resort in Casa Grande Patty and I ran into Tim Lindsey, of the C-Dory Lynn Marie. Tim and Judy have a park model here. They sold their C-Dory quite a few years ago now, but it took no time at all to remember why we were friends in the C-Dory world!

Una Mas and Little Bit have just been spotted arriving at Mangrove Marina at Tavernier in the Florida keys.
It's going to be nice having them join us.

We are down in Marathon at the Black Fin Marina, we saw a 25' C-Dory named 2 Wound Up fueling up in Vaca Cut on one of our tours. Boot key Harbor's city owned mooring field is filled up with people waiting. They have 226 mooring balls. Sister Creek has a fair amount anchored in there also. Lisa and Jim Favors from the 27' Ranger Tug are in our marina a couple boats down. Graceful a 26' Cape cruiser / C-Cory Venture with Flint and Lesle are next door at Banana Bay. A lot of north wind has cooled the water temps from the lower 70's to the mid 60's. That slowed the fishing some. Low of 55 today and a high of 68 degrees. Zero at home in Pa. Glad o be here.

After 6 days of puddling around on the way we achieved nirvana last night.
We got our shrimp salads at Loreli's in Islamorada (The justification for this trip). On the way down here we spent two nights anchored near Thelma Ann, a very nice looking CD 16 also bound from Stuart to the Keys. We also stopped to visit our neighbors from Stuart who were on their Rossie 24 visiting friends in Key Largo. While entering the canal we passed (both directions) the real "African Queen" taking tourists both in and out. We plan on staying in this area for a couple of days then start puddling home again. It's windy here in the anchorage in front of Bass Pro Shop/Worldwide Sportsman.

I was headed south on Hiway 101 along Hood Canal yesterday when I met a North bound C-Dory. Either a 19 or 22 angler, dark strip and no name. I beeped and waved. (He probably thought I liked his boat  ) I was in a blue Camry, no boat behind me.

Hey there , Jack in Alaska..... We may have seen the same 22 south of Kona , parked in a yard down off the road ? The wife and I saw it a few days ago, so are you still here on da BIG ISLAND ? If so mayhaps we can get together for a cocktail. Alrighty then ALOHA. EH ! Larry.

Spotted another one. We arrived home (Stuart) last night at 6 pm after an 11 hour run from Miami. Had to cut the trip to Islamorada short by a day or two due to Cynthia's new broken toe. (Not much fun exploring on land) .We passed and waved to "Wishbone" a nice looking CD22 with NC numbers headed south in the ICW just south of Ft. Lauderdale. A great trip but a little cold and windy at night. We ran some heat every morning. We gained much respect for these boats in going downwind in 5 foot rollers on Biscayne bay (at 12 kts) on the way south and coming north in Florida Bay and Card Sound with a 2-4 ft chop into the 15-20 kt wind. I instinctively slowed down to 6-8 kts and we were bouncing like a cork. I increased speed a little at a time until we hit the sweet spot on top of the chop and we cruised in comfort at 12 kts again with the V bow cutting the waves. Sweeet. I'm learning how to use this boat and loving it more every trip.

No water near here! We are in Arizona, Casey and Mary were passing through on their way home to Florida! Hence a "C-Brat" sighting, not a "C-Dory" sighting!

Pat... some form of reference as to where you are.... the state maybe? the body of water?

Ahhh.. much better! It is kinda fun just following folks around and seeing who's seeing who and wheres. Getting a bit itchy for a trip myself. Going to have to wait about a week at least to get out of he predicted negative temp ranges and get the boat out of the snow in the driveway. Travel On!

Thanks for stopping by Dwight. It was great to chat with you. 15 minutes after you left, Shirley and Rick from C-Dawg stopped by. And to think I was up there to work on some projects! :smiled. C-Brats sure have a way of finding you. :-)
