C-Dory Sightings

Yesterday.....June 26, I saw a real nice looking 27' C-Dory, the original rounded transom model, with a new black (Suzuki maybe) motor on the Knik-Goose Bay Rd. just out of Wasilla, Alaska about 11AM. It turned north, heavy traffic and I lost sight of it.
Those are pretty rare anymore.
No I did not see Sarah Palin....!!!!!!!! Don't want to.

Several weeks ago a 22 C-Dory showed up in the Elochoman Marina in Cathlamet, WA on the lower Columbia. Her name is C-Nile and she is equipped with twin 40s, a grey shear stripe, and a very nice grey cockpit cover. Haven't been able to determine who belongs to her as of yet. She increases the grand total of C-Dories moored in the marina by a third. Is she yours?

Saw "Squirt 11" today in Desolation Sound yacht charter fleet, Comox. Nice looking 25, registered in Alberta. My sailor mate has booked it for 3 days to take his dad out for his 91st birthday. Dad is a bit unsteady on his feet, so thought a power boat would be more stable than a sail boat.

Martin.

I saw the Susan E out in Haro Strait today, on the west side of San Juan Island. I was driving one of the whale watch boats, and recognized their boat right away. Then, got a call from Susan on the radio - she sounds good.

Then, saw them again while we were looking at some harbor porpoise in San Juan Channel on the way back in.

Tom came by the whale watch boat while we were getting her put away - I gave him the nickle tour... oh, Tom, you still owe me the 5¢.

What an absolutely beautiful day on the water! Haro Strait was calm as can be!

Best wishes,
Jim B.

I was out at Neah Bay this weekend. I saw multiple C-Dory's. The 29' C-Dory that used to be at Master Marine was out there on his maiden voyage. I can't remember the fella's name but he seemed like a nice guy and he was really enjoying the boat. He's a fisherman and had been down to Umatilla reef and back and the fuel burn was only about 14gals. That seems VERY good to me for a 29' boat. He's in Neah bay for 2-weeks so I'll see him again next weekend. I also saw a newer 22' CD named "Storm Chaser". Never came across the owner of that one. There was also a 22' center console C-Dory on it's trailer parked in the Cape Motel parking lot this AM.

Spotted a 14 angler with no name headed north out of Budd inlet at about 3pm a sunny 21st of July! Looked good and was on plane with the bow a bit high and two souls aboard.

I've been seeing 2 or 3 different C-Dorys down at pt defiance every weekend. one of them is the same model and color scheme as ours but with tinted windows and unnamed. very nice boat. spoke with the owners and it wasn't their first Dory. always a good sign when someone ends up with multiple dories I think.

Just saw Capital Sea heading south on the inland island highway between Courtenay and Campbell River. It is amazing how C-dorys jump out now that we have one!

Spotted the Kim Christine pulling out of Westport Saturday afternoon as we were prepping to launch. How was the fishing for you Patrick? We brought a bunch of wild silvers to the boat on Sunday, only to be released.

In Yellostone Park at Bridge Bay RV park. Ran into Yellowstone John. He doesn't get on the site much and has some health issues, but after a few minutes talking C-Dorys he lit up. Hang in there Yellowstone.

lets see here, in the "deep" south Sound this weekend we spotted:

Gull Thumper
Sneaker
Knot a yacht

and two newer unnamed C-Dorys. One with a blue stripe and one with a green. A great weekend for the dory brethren :)

Despite seeing a plethora of them down in the swantown area, still had three different folks come chat about mine as though they never see them.

Exchanged greetings with a man on a red striped 16 footer anchored just off the north side of Mercer Island. It went something like this, "Nice lookin' boat"..."Yeah, that's a nice lookin' boat too" . "Have a nice day"..." You have a nice day too". 'Just be Nice' in action! :smile
