C-Dory Sightings

I didn't actually see it, but I hear tell the Helen O is moored right next to me down in the Warrenton basin. At least that's what Larry and Lyle said when they stopped by the house a little bit ago. Lyle caught one short sturgeon today, and they are back after it tomorrow.

Saw a C-Dory 25 down at Depoe Bay this weekend. I mean to get down there myself this summer.

That would be our "no name" C-Dory 25 that is now permanently moored at Depoe Bay. We sailed it around from Sportcraft Marina last month. Have taken her out fishing for sea bass and chinook a few times. Just love the way she handles in the ocean. On the trip from Oregon City to Depoe Bay we covered 200 nautical miles and used 85 gallons. Speed varied from 10 to 20 knots depending on conditions. Looking forward to cruising the Oregon Coast this summer.

I love how C-Dorys are magnets. I was anchored this last weekend in a channel in south Puget Sound and my brother and I were on the beach. I looked to the south and rounding the corner a mile away, I spot a 22 foot C-Dory. My brother, who does not have "C-Dory eyes", was questioning my vision. He was amazed as the "Far West II" made a bee line to "C-Run", pulled by that magical attraction that we who own them understand completely. We shared a friendly wave and a unspoken acknowledgement of our wonderful boats. Cool. Robbi

Robbi-

Did you get a good look at the people aboard the Far West II?

That boat was up for sale starting about two months ago.

Would you recognize John and / or Edna Dracon if you saw them?

My understanding was that he was having some health problems leading to the sale offering. Joe.

Sightings over Memorial Day weekend cruise (more than sighting, we chatted with all).

R-Matey, a CD19, at Blind Harbor, they were on the way to Port Townsend I think. Ruth and Joe.

Caution Horse, a CD25, at Deer Harbor (were looking for Bess-C, not there, but found Caution Horse). Tim and (Cheryl?).

Sailor-D, a CD22, at Sidney Spit, on the way to US waters for some exploration and cruising. Dave and Helen and Gus the Wonder Dog.

I don't know John and Edna, so I can't say if that is who I saw. Sorry that I can't help out with your questions. I remember seeing the same boat last July near Hope Island, but can't say that it was the same couple or not. Robbi

Thanks, Robbi. Saw Ryes(sic?) and Margaret of Island Flyer at Prevost Sunday. Nice folks. Rowed over in my new West Marine dinghy.

CD Sightings over Memorial Day weekend:

Saturday morning:

At the north end of Blakely Island, a green 22 CD (no name). Four guys on board. Talked with 'Rick'. They were getting ready to dive for ling cod.

Pat & Patty at Blind Harbor in their new 25 CD 'Daydream'.

David at Blind Harbor in his new 25 CD 'Anna Leigh'.

Left Blind Harbor and went to Port Townsend. No sightings of C-Dorys on the way there or where we spent the night at Boat Haven, Port Townsend.

Sunday morning we left Port Townsend at 6AM and went north to Matia and Sucia. No CD sightings.

Hey Roger (Sensei): Remember the early 1980s 22 CD at Bellingham that you and Lisabeth noticed while you were having dinner at Anthony's (quite some time ago)? Well, it's still docked at Bellingham and after all these years finally has registration numbers (but still no name).

Bambina has a dinghy? I thought Bambina was a dinghy.....

On Wednesday morning on our way from Twin Bridges through Guemes channel we saw David on shore towing the Anna Leigh either to or from the launch ramp. When we got to Sucia we met the crew from Sailor-D, Dave, Helen and Gus (a fellow terrier type for Winston to touch noses with). We were very jealous that we had to come home today and they are out for another 3 weeks.

Professor, again the Theory of Relativity comes into play. If I'm a seagull or a sleeping seal and Bambina comes steaming my way, I'm thinkin' that boat's mighty big. And cute.
:smiled

My six year old son called me at work the other night very excited to tell me he saw a red C Dory 22" just like yours Dad except it's red and it does not have radar. It did have two antenaes though."I promised we would investigate after school. He was correct. There is an older red 22 Angler I think with SCOUT on the side and a gas puller. The boat is bobbing on a buoy south of Hoodsport on Highway 101.Did not see it under member roster.

Well, we have to have somebody to pick on that has a strong enough ego to withstand it,

and since Brok qualifies as well as deserves it,

HE'S DA' MAN!!! :smileo

On our way down the Columbia River yesterday we saw a no name gray 22 foot Cruiser headed upstream just west of Government Island. We went down to Saint Helens and up through the Multnomah Channel. Along the way we bumped into a friendly family who say they just saw a C-Dory.
