C-Dory Sightings

Not our Daydream anyway...Saturday we were cruising from Bellingham over to Blind Island...is there another Daydream?

Saturday we saw Daydream on Lake Washington near Bill's house. We stopped to say hello and watch security watching us. :photo Then continued leisuerly up to Kirkland. Also spotted the little red "Cherry" on a trailer at Mercer Marine in Newport Basin.

Nice old C-Dory advertisements. Interesting in that they show the boats with bracketed outboards and refer to it as a C-bracket. I recently saw a new 25 at Three Rivers marine with full stern and a bracketed Honda 200. (Looked fantastic and very much macho). I guess history really does repeat itself.
Anybody know of disadvantages of the bracket? Seems like it would turn tighter, provide more stern lift and generally push better, handle waves from the stern better, more interior cockpit space. Only downside I can think of is longer to trailer, stern weight leverage to the rear when trailering, longer boat=more slip fee charges.

Chris,

Had a 225 Honda on a bracket on the Orca and liked it. Kept the Orca in the water, so more slip dollars, but good trade off for more and cleaner cockpit, quieter, in addition to all of your plusses. For my boat use having the full transom a huge plus because when pulling a shrimp pot from 300+ feet it's easy to get pooped as you back into the wind/sea to keep over your pot... do it again? You betcha.

Sounds like a great set-up Dusty. Maybe you can answer this. Are all the new 25 CD's bracketed? Or was the one I saw a special order?

There's a new 25 CD in Bellingham with a Washington registration (No, it's not ours). Drove into the Shurgard storage yard this afternoon and there sitting in the back is a brand new 2005 with a Honda 125 (I think). Went to the office to pay for our storage unit and because of privacy the office folks couldn't tell me the CD owner's name. Didn't let that deter me so left a note. Just as I was returning to our unit the owner of the new 25CD drove up. We didn't waste any time introducing ourselves and letting him know about the C-Brat site. Jerry is retired from teaching. Boat yet unnamed. Purchased at the Portland boat show. Told him about Cornet Bay this weekend but the boat still is in need of electronics, etc., so don't know how long it will be before we see it in the water.

Tell you what, I wouldn't let the lack of the permanent electronics keep me out of the water...we will be in a similar situation between taking delivery of our 25 in May and whenever we get it to Les for the Raymarine stuff. You need a backup handheld GPS and portable VHS anyway (got them), and that is certainly good enough for the kind of things we do around here (granted, we would not take off for Alaska with the just little toys). I could not BEAR to have our new 25 just sitting unused...

Hi, I saw two C-Dorys while fishing the Discovery Bay Salmon Derby. Another 22 with 5 guys in it and what I believe was a 19.

We aren't the most outgoing people sometimes - perhaps the competition.

I took 10th place by the way.

Cheers,

Dan

Good job in the derby. Tenth place wow! I have some buddies who fished in that derby, supposed to be a tough one. What were the #'s again? Only 14 fish caught through the whole derby right? Out of over 500 anglers. You must be one heck of a fisherman. Tenth place in a derby like that is pretty darn impressive!

Thanks Sark - It was three long days. I think there were 14 or 15 total fish caught on the 3 days. The winning fish was 22+ and 2nd was 21+. I was a long way from that at 7lb. 8oz. But I was very pleased with 10th.

Cheers,

Dan

spotted the bess-c on the highway in everett today. we waved but they most likely think they are being stocked by crazies. We were in the old truck. kind of shabby looking rig.

Dan: Good Job!!
Tom: When we going to get to see some pics of that new 22 on the SusanE photo album?? Great to meet you two at the Factory Gathering.

Tom, when you saw them in Everett, Bessie & Lyle and Shelley were on their way to Oak Harbor to Canvas Riggers for a camperback. We met up with them there, and then went over to EQ where we had another "sighting," Fred and Robbin's new boat and Dusty's new 22 C-Salt was in the yard as well...

Our daughter the lovely Lydia sighted a C-Dory in Bellingham. It was named "Wolf Eel." No other details, anybody know anything about this boat or its owners?

Hi Tom,
Hope we didn't appear stuck up. Shelley said "the people in that pickup are waving at us" not uncommon when you're towing a C-Dory. Then she said "they're beside us again waving, do you know them". I said "no, but they either own a C-Dory, or they really want a C-Dory".

I didn't take my eyes off of the road. Towing a 25' boat through that crowded area of Everett scares us Eastern Washington types. As Pat said, we were taking the boat to Canvas Riggers in Oak Harbor for installation of camper canvas and then on to EQ for installation of the C-80 system.

While at EQ Marine last Friday, Tom and Rene of Primitive who were picking up there EQ gift certificate from the the open house. I also bumped into Tim of True Story who was picking up his boat with a new anchor windlas and tabs.

On page 92/93 of the April Sea magazine (which attendees ot the SBS receive for free) is a C-Dory docked. Who is it? Curious minds...

I saw that Bob, it looked to be a 19 footer red in color. I was about to give up on the highly touted free magazines when low & behold they found their way into my mailbox this week :)

Just looked - I am going to take a wild guess that it is Mar-T, Mike and Marty Riley's cabernet 19...

9:30 Saturday morning. Watching "Northwest Cable News" and a segment on a R.I.B tour of the San Juans. They beached (Patos or Matia) next to a C-Dory. Who COULD it be?
