C-Dory Sightings

Back in the late 80's I stored my 22' High Tide in the Ninilchik fairgrounds polebarn for winter storage. My 30' Holiday Rambler TT was next to it. A bunch of other RV's and boats were in it also. Red Fox was two over from my boat.
In the spring of that year there was several snow storms cloae together resulting in 7' of snow in 2 days. It also happened to be the same time that MT. Illiamna blew and scattered ash everywhere. Well...........the snow did not slide off of the metal roof so the whole d--n thing came crashing down flattening my TT, crushing the cabin of my CD as well as the Red Fox. A 5th.whl. with truck under it was cut in half between our boats.
I had mine repaired. The original owner of RedFox ordered a new CD which he still owns today (Ocean Dancer). Red Fox disappeared into insurance/repair land.
Several years later I ran across posts from RedFox. I contacted him to see if he knew the story on his boat which he did not. I told him and he said that is what explains the fact that his cabin roof is different from all the others of his model year. A new one was ordered from the factory and installed.
RedFox has certainly had a long an adventurous life and it is good to hear it is still floating as is my old High Tide.

Yesterday, Carol and I accompanied Jessica up to Western Wa. Univ. in Bellingham so she could participate in a day of orientation in anticipation of the start of her junior year in college. (She just completed her first two years at Bellevue College). While J was in her orientation, Carol and I spent some quality time with Joe and Ruth (R Matey), at their lovely home and on the new R Matey, (a Ranger 25). It was a slight challenge getting Carol down the gangplank with her knee on the knee scooter, but she did fine and managed to slide aboard the R-25. (Carol had foot surgery prior to the B-Ham gathering so was somewhat immobile). Ruth and Joe's hospitality was superb as always and we thorougly enjoyed our time with them! Thank you Ruth and Joe!

Saw a nice looking older (80's?) blue striped 22 footer tied up on B dock at North Everett Marina today. Also a grey striped 22 footer flying south on the Sound between Mukilteo and Clinton.

Dave, Thanks for the nice note. We enjoyed our visit with you and Carol. What a fun afternoon. Took some photos but could only figure out how to add one of them to this message. Three others are in the one of the R-Matey albums.

Saw a blue 22 Cruiser (?) headed West on HWY 112. Sekiu or Neah Bay-bound for salmon, perhaps?

Also say CAVU in Tacoma headed West on HWY 16.

Not sure if the new larger C-Dory will be called the Susan E as well, but saw the "new" boat twice this week end while staying at our cabin on Upright Head on Lopez. Last time we saw them was Sunday evening around 7:45 PM , heading north, just before rounding the head towards the ferry.
We saw multiple C-Dorys going past the cabin this weekend but couldn't catch the names: red ones, blue ones, black ones! A great weekend to be in the San Juans.

did you get a picture? we need a good running shot. spent the weekend in the islands showing freinds oracs and crabbing. Saw Capt. Carli in his tour boat. spent time with the Knotty-C. Meet the new owners of a 22 with twin 50's , did not get a name. Saw a 19 angler out checking pots near friday harbor. a 22 on a mooring ball in english camp. I think thats it?

Ha, did not get a picture. You were going at a pretty good clip (both times), if I had walked inside to get the camera...you would have been out of our viewing range.
We will be up on Lopez next weekend and then the second weekend of August...I will keep my camera right next to my binoculars. Better yet, call when you are approaching north part of Upright Head and I will be camera ready 360-468-2872.

Saw an unnamed Blue 22 at Mystery Bay State Park last weekend. They are local to the area. Have seen them in the area there before, Gordon, good to see you guys again. Saw Mary Lee at the fish dock at John Wayne marina Sunday, and a local non particapatory gray 22 cruiser at the fuel stop at Sequim Costco.

All seen at Westport July 23-26 2010. Moored at Westport, I assume they all go across the bar. I liked the first no named 22, with outriggers.

At MD Rte. 2 and Birdsville Road, saw Choir Practice (narcdawg) heading north to South River. Didn't have time to follow to marina - father's 85th birthday took me to Maryland - but since we don't see many C-Dory's in Kentucky would love to have been able to chat for a bit.

I was in the red VW TDI with the yellow kayak on top delivering the thumbs up.

This evening while sitting on a friend's porch in Burlington, Carol called my attention to a C-Dory heading North on the Farm To Market Road. By the time I turned around to look, I could only see the stern of it. It appeared to be a 22' with twin Hondas. Carol thought that it was red.

On the way to work this morning just before 6, I saw a 22 cruiser, appeared to be in the classic bracket., black strip, and no name, sneaking through a side street in Sequim.

On the way home, saw a 16, black stripe, headed out toward John Wayne marina. Another No Name boat.

While attending the Arctic Thunder airshow at Elmendorf saw the 16 Angler TOY-YOT (Red/white) in the for sale lot $14,900 If I remember correctly.

Launching at Everett yesterday, we saw a rare C-Dory runabout - looked like 22' or so, a C-Dory with no cabin, just a windshield. The bow was quite differenly shaped as well. I chatted briefly with the owners, who thought it might be a one of a kind, they have not named it, and they had not heard of C-Brats. We fixed that last part, so we shall see if they introduce themselves!

Dave, have you checked behind the barn to be sure it wasn't the Sea Shift?
