I woulda called him as soon as I saw it. Used to call Rich from Fluid Marine and Scott from C Dory Marine group all the time to quell misinformation and let folks know they were around and to put things to rest.
I have seen the best boats ever from Scott's crew at Triton . I'm sure Carrie in N.C would concur.
I'm looking for a slow, steady , successful return of a great boat line !!

I stopped by a dealer today, I was informed that the company did go up side down and that the original owners, I
Believe are called the Martin Brothers are back in control, they are making sea sports but will make c dory only by special order so unless a dealer orders and purchases one, the only way to buy a new one is by special order. Few dealers will floor new boats in this economy.
I hope this is correct.

Re-read the thread, that info doesn't sound correct. What city was the factory in and what dealer did you talk to?

Well, your first post on this thread was off the mark. I don't have any inside information on who does what at the current C-Dory factory, but making boats only for sold orders (or for promoting dealers, like Wefings) is pretty much the way things have been for a while... a smart way to go about it in this current economic situation.

The last thing any business needs is people "speculating" or spreading unsubstantiated rumors. What dog do you have in this fight, Howard? Is Larry accurate in saying that you are a salesman for a competitor? Seems that some disclosure on your part is in order.

Rather than "hope" you are correct, it might be prudent for you to find out the facts before posting.

Jim, I think Larry was implying the dealer westar spoke to was a salesman for a competitor, not westar himself.

I have been biting my tongue over this latest round of ill-informed speculation regarding the factory. I do not make assumptions about anyone's motives for posting gloom and doom things and we all have the right to say whatever we want but for pete's sake before doing so at least take the time to see what else has been said in the last few months and make some judgements about the necessity for, wisdom or consequences of your post! I live near the factory. Not too many weeks ago I went there talked to the man in charge, saw C-Dorys and Tom Cats under construction, was assured that both lines, C-Dory and Sea Sport will be built and came away not giddy but feeling pretty good about the way things are going. ALL of this was in a post made just a few weeks ago under the heading of factory status update and was right there for anybody to see with the most elementary search. We in the brats often like to believe that we are the best marketers for C-Dory, that this site is the place people come to to find out about the boats, etc. etc. We are fiercely proud of our boats and the line; so it seems to me that we ought to measure our words twice before hitting the submit button. No, I have no interest in the factory, no I am not trying to censor anybody's right to post, no I am not friends with anybody at the factory but I sure do have sympathy for a small boat builder trying to survive and can only imagine their frustration with some of the speculations made here.

I also think that the original author was attempting in his post to substantiate what he'd heard, not spread a rumor. At least that's how I read his post. Mike.

I agree with colobear. It seems that every other month or so, someone posts that Triton/C-Dory is OUT OF BUSINESS. Such as, last Wed
I went by the factory today and found it closed, the boat dealer across the street said that the company went BK three months ago and that there is no intention to continue to produce the c dory of sell parts.
OK, it's an honest, though radical statement, but where did it come from?

I don't have a clue, but it would be interesting to hear who the dealer was, or any other facts that might substantiate the statement. Triton has been buried a couple of times and personally, I'm glad they're still in business, producing C-Dories. Though I have mine and intend keeping it. Note that westar sold his C-Dory last fall.

I was saying that a salesman (person unknown) told westar that Trition was out of business, and that that person unknown, was either telling an 'untruth' or was 'uninformed'.

This is the dealer that is nearby: http://www.breakwater-marine.com/Page.a ... le-WA.aspx

My post was somewhat speculative as the original poster was not more specific.

Everyone, heads up! I stopped by the C-Brats web site and saw a post from the Bayliner user group that the C-Brats site is closed!

Boris,
Not to be combative or anything, but when quoting the original author you forgot to include the last sentence of his original post. It modifies the tone and intent of his post a little bit don't you think? Could it possibly be that he was just trying to get some clarification on what he'd been told? Mike.

Ya know, we are so into the company's operation we ought to each own stock...so we each can have a voice in what is happening....

I can not think of anything I have ever purchased where the purchasers think they are a part of the manufacturing process...it really is pretty amazing...

Might we think we are somewhat of a pain to the owners of the business ?
