C Dory Named "Dilemma"

We saw a 22' C Dory named "Dilemma" At Rio Honda Key today. The trim is grey, SS probably a 2000 + and appeared to have Florida Registration--and "OR" just forward of the transom (for Oregon?) in letters which seemed to match the name (which was on cabin sides). The boat was about 50 feet away, and I yelled out "Great to see a C Dory"--"I'm "Thataway" from the C Brat site." My suspicions that the owner and wife (they were looking at me) had no idea what I was talking about. Anyone know who owns this C Dory?

We did not chase them down, since we were sitting on the shore (next to the Caracal) eating lunch.

We have seen two Rosborough 246's--both owners were friendly and had a lot of knowledge about C Dories. We saw a Ranger 21 (no one aboard and locked up) at a restaurant we had lunch at yesterday--and a Ranger 25 which looked to be cruising in a marina at Boot Key Harbor.

Otherwise, I estimate that 85% of the boats cruising in the keys are sailboats. We have seen one Nordhavn 40 cruising--and a few Marine Trader and similar Taiwan trawlers.

Good morning Bob,

Many boats here have “OR” at the rear of the boat, which stands for “Owner Responsibility” instead of a capacity number.

Ron Fisher

Ron,
The "OR" was on the external of both sides of the transom, in 3" high letters, which matched the graphics of the name. I had not heard of the owner responsibility issue (which is not legal, since there is a formula for determining any boat's capacity).

My bad--it is Bahia Honda State Park--and Key--sorry about that!
This is at mile 37 on the Florida causeway to Key West. (37 miles North of the end of the highway. Knight's key, where we are staying, is at mile 47).

Regards,

Bob

And I just thought that "OR" was part of the Dilemma.......

In late Oct/ Nov we cruised up the Tennessee River from western Alabama to Chattanooga & back in company with several boats including a Rosebourgh "Salty Paws". They are Canadians doing the loop and should be in that area now. Name comes from their dogs. Boat is outboard powered (250) has a lifting boom for when they had a Newfoundland dog - 150 lbs. It took the crane to get dog in boat. Now that's dedication to the four footed kind.
