C-Dory in Europe

Hi

I only just discovered this site and C-Dory boats but I have never seen one in real life. They look lovely but are there any in Europe? Did anyone ever cross the atlantic in one?

No one has crossed the Atlantic in a C Dory--that would take a lot of logistics or fuel, as several small boats have crossed under power,. Al Grover in the Grover 26, outboard powered made the crossing--there was a stop to refuel, and the cockpit of the boat was literally filled with jerry cans of fuel.

Also a large "flats fishing boat" crossed, again with a lot of logistic help with fuel being pre arranged along the way. Both of these were the extreme Northern Route.

I have crossed in my own motor sailor--but I had a range of 3000 miles under power--and unlimited under sail. The boat was 62 feet LOA, and weight of 35 tons. We encountered hurricane force winds in the Bermuda to Azores leg--and had 35 to 40 foot breaking seas. Although the C Dory is a sea worthy boat, I would not want to experience those conditions in any small boat.

The C Dory at one time had CE certification--there was a plan to send several to Europe--I am not sure if one or two were shipped over or not.

My '08 has a CE sticker. I think it says that the motor size limit is 87 kilowatts.
