To a company called Liquid Marine LLC. I look forward to seeing a new direction from the new owners to preserve the valuable brand equity and of course our customer service experience. I understand many key employees are still there including Frank Walters (warranty dept.) and others.

Until more details come out, I would not speculate on any direction. Venture capital groups are formed all of the time to buy boat companies. There is one principle who has been involved for some time with the C Dory Marine group, who specialized in raising venture capital.

At times name changes and "sales" are only paper transactions--and may still involve the same people in administration. What I would hope is that whomever takes the reins, if different than current, are more responsive to the needs of owners and purchasers.

Agree, Dr. Bob --

But if I'm speculating right, Jeff M. will be back, and that would be a huge plus IMO. Just speculation!! At my ripe years I just sit rock and speculate (dream).

Agreed, and this was part of what was explained to me. Though I know there is a new CEO and some other new people.

I look forward to seeing what comes next.

I really hate to say this, but, the last three buy outs that I have experienced, in other major business buy outs, in my area, that said liquid, really mean liquidate! My neighbor travels all around the country liquidating businesses, and his company name is something like Liquid Assets! And the LLC is a limited liability corporation. Maybe C-Dory spent way to much money trying to put Toland out of business. Maybe we as a group should,(could) step in and buy the business and return it to it's old glory, one boat at a time, a waiting list, competent service, with the customer, and quality first, and bring Mark M. back as CEO. Just a thought------Rich

My understanding is that the new new owner of C-Dory is actually Fluid Marine LLC. Not to be confused with Fluid Motion LLC which is the legal name of our company. Fluid Motion LLC/Ranger Tugs has no ownership interest in Fluid Marine LLC/C-Dory Marine nor do they have any ownership interest in us. I am not privy to all of the details of this transaction and would be out of line to comment any further. I am sure that the new ownership will release the details in the near future. We wish them the best!

I look forward to seeing many of you at Trawlerfest Anacortes this weekend!

Thank you,

Jeff Messmer

OMG Jeff - you are exactly right - that is just what I was told as well but typed the wrong name in my first post above. My apology to everyone for that goof!!!

Well, a search on the Secretary of State's corporations web site fails to turn up any registered LLC or corporation called "Fluid Marine." There is a "Marine Fluids LLC" from Eatonville, but I doubt that this is the one. Ricardo's company is Madison Bay Holdings, which doesn't tell us anything one way or the other, but I would not be surprised if it is Ricardo who will be in the driver's seat..I guess we'll have to wait and see how it all plays out...

I'm surprised, little nephew, you of all people should know everything there is about governmental lethargy. If it were here, the LLC would be listed by the State on line many months after creation. Is WA that fast?

Personally I think the ultimate irony would be if the Tolands were major players in the buyout. (sigh) Then again I haven't heard from Da Nerd or his sidekink Mike in some time. Maybe they decided to use C-Brat membership fees for a good cause.

Actually I feel better about the whole thing. Too many boat manufacturers have simply closed their doors in the past year or so.
