As I stated in my earlier comment, not having a pix of a vessel, makes the design more "inclusive" of the traditional C-Dory lines and the new R25 Tug and R21 Tug lines which are all a part of this site.
(Now, if only I had a bottle of Elijah Craig lying around, my religious upbringing would be better? fortified and future vessel christenings would indeed become more interesting.... :crook )

Jim- I like the compromise / hybrid!!! Wel'' have to let the crowd decide, of course. When we get to the point of picking the final choice or choices, I'll get Herb at the burgee company to give us cost estimates.

Absolutely fits every registered C-Brat and his boat/tug on here, absolutely appropriate but probably 2-3 times the cost of the standard burgee. I think my barely used C-Dog burgee was under $15. Yup, pride of membership says I'd drop $50 on a burgee like that in a tachycardial heatbeat.
Technology (and materials) have advanced tremendously so it should be do-able. If all else fails, spell out C-Brat using little signal flags on the burgee.

The thinking that went into the design of the burgee was quite simple, and followed a fairly simple set of rules of burgee design.
It should be easily recognizable from a distance, colorful, sturdy and weatherproof and windproof, and should be readable from both sides (port or starboard).
I would have loved to include the C-Dory "C" in it, but it violates the last rule.
Hence, the burgee is a good, generic C-Dory burgee, without being specific as to any particular owners group, yet appropriate for all C-Dory owners.

I like the first one better since it is more than just a lettered sign on a pennant. I already have a logo that says C-Dory on each side of my boat and pennant that just says C-Brats might be "C"ing too many "C"s. My 2 cents. How about a poll?
Here are the three designs for comparison. Keep in mind that the first, however good, is not acceptable to some folks, and probably not usable..........
You can use this side-by-side comparison to get back far away from the source and seee how the burgee design looks at a distance.
With the lettered two, we probably need to figure out what the back side will look like. Can the lettering be reversed? Will the big "C" fit on the smaller end of the pennant? Do we just let the reversed letters show? (easier and cheaper, too!) Would a swallow-tail pennant (double tailed)* fit better with the lettering? What about the rising cost of the complications?
Are there others of you who are planning to submit a design?

Another funny:
Once in a while I type "Tug" and get "Tub", but that one can't pass through the "OK" PC Filter w/o a big "Reject" buzzer going off!
Example: "You should really be proud of your new $879,000 Nordhaven 55 Tub"

3 - C-Dory designed the shape of the boat, setting in stone the side view profile of most of it's products long, long before the owner's groups and the old argument took place.
4 - C-Dory owners should not be "forbidden" the right to fly a burgee bearing the acutal shape of the C-Dory Products because of some past argument between ppl who are not even here now.
5 - I don't want to fly a burgee with a bunch of words on it. I like the pictoral symbolism. The main reason for flags, pennants and burgees is to provide a symbol, not to provide reading material.
6 - I think everyone ought to do just whatever they want on the issue EXCEPT put pressure on others to conform to some old prohibition based upon a past argument.
7 - I'd still like two of the original burgee with only the classic shape of the C-Dory on it.
Should C-Dory have to redesign and reshape their basic boat so we can fly a burgee with that shape without harassment? ...because of ancient history?
With the current plane of thought, you could say that noone should own a boat shaped like a C-Dory since that shape brings back bad memories to a few ppl.

Ditto, Dr. John, I would vote for Joe's "original". Naturally, that's a selfish vote considering we will be motoring around in a CD 16 Angler and I don't care to explain to everyone who asks "What's a C-Brat?" I love being a C-Brat,

Just a test, nothing more. Maybe the owner of this logo would give permission, maybe someone would like it, maybe it is suitable for a burgee, maybe it is not practical. I prefer a picture logo to the a print one. Maybe someone that knows what they are doing could do a better mock-up job, (No doubt).
