C-Dory 26' Pro Angler

Brent-

The only 26' Pro Angler I know of in my memory was a single boat that was for sale at Gunther's Outboards in Sebastapol/Bodega Bay, Ca, several years back. It had a fling bridge, and was quite a magnificent C-Dory.

Unfortunately, it languished on the market for a year or more, and was eventually taken back to the factory in Washington, and the flying bridge removed. I believe after that, it was shipped back east to a dealer and sold there. Don't remember exactly where.

Bill (Da Nag) had a whole set of about 25 or so photos of the boat taken while it was at Gunther's.

Here's a link to an earlier discussion of the C-D P/A 26 and the photos from Bill: LINK

I think there was some discussion about concerns that the flying bridge was too much weight up too high on a boat the size, beam, and weight of a C-Dory. Have a friend in the yacht broker business that says you need an 11 foot beam to carry a flying bridge, generally.

Some have talked about customizing a C-D 25 or 22 into carrying a flying bridge, but generally been discouraged as being too small of boats to carry that much weight up so high.

I'm looking at a Sea Ray 265 Sedan Bridge that has a flying bridge on a boat with a 9 foot beam and weighs 6400+ lbs with twin V-6 outdrives and 2 x 225 hp. Would be OK on Shasta Lake, but wouldn't want to be caught in some big ocean rock-n'-rollers while up there going from Catalina back to the mainland. Seat belts, anyone???

Joe.

This certainly must be the same one from California that had the flybridge removed and was refurbished, no? In 2005 I was in the factory a lot, and this is NOT a standard production model! This is certainly a fishing boat, not a cruiser! The pix are very interesting!

Three Rivers sold a 2005

I am curious and plan to contact the factory. I liked the usability

Why do some CD use a transom bracket?

Mike at Three Rivers said it was not a good seller. They made about a dozen in the late 80's, early 90's, no plans to build more.

It did not explain the 05 model so I assume it can be ordered from the factory and this group would know the details.

Pat- Amen, same one. Even down to the "Roof Ladder" to nowhere:

The transom bracket allows the much easier installation of a large outboard rather than an I/O outdrive and an inboard engine. It also adds a bit of length to the overall package and makes the boat perform as though the hull is somewhat longer. Additionally, it saves room inside the cockpit and cockpit floor for fishboxes, tanks, and other equipment and, at the same time, keeps the floor level on these smaller boats.

I kinda thought the boat had been sold as new once, but maybe not. Still has a 2003 model "new" motor, though...... (or ios this an older listing that's still on line or archived somewhere?)

Was listed for $69,000 at Gunther's way back when....seemed list a lot of money then, but with $115k CD-25's, $145K TC-225's and the new CR-25 topping out at over $150+k, looks like an inexpensive one of a kind that will be an instant classic if you're sure it'll fit your needs. (These prices are off the top of my head guesstimates, could be off a few 5-10 k$, or so, corrective admonission letters gratituously accepted.)

And Pat's right about it beening a dedicated fishing boat....where's the enclosed head and shower? Looks like a great dedicated charter fishing boat---but no commercial takers....???

Better check with the ADMIRAL on the feminine ammenities situation before you ask her to write the check(!!!)

Good Luck! Could be an interesting find. Please let us know how the SEA TRIAL goes and how she performs compared to the rest of the C-Dory line.

Joe.

I really don't know, Scott Matthews or Jeff Messmer would have to answer, but it seems to me that the factory is going pedal to the metal just trying to keep up with demand for CD16s, CD22s, CD25s and TC255s - and having been there, I can tell you there is NO room at the Auburn factory to store molds for boats not in production. Maybe the mold for the Pro Angler is out in the grass at the Monroe factory, but I would think it would be very unlikely that C-Dory would be interested in building a single Pro Angler on special order even if they do still have the mold. They'd probably tell you to buy a Skagit Orca!

Thanks for info. I will check with Admiral My Better Half before cutting a check. I found the boat on a Google and as expected the CB gurus provided the facts and comments quickly.

This boat was for sale when I purchased my boat. Too me, looking at the pictures it looks like a Skagit hull with a C-Dory "top" grafted on in a Walk-Around version. Great fishing platform! If I won the Lotto I would buy this boat in a heartbeat just for the coolness factor! It would suit my fishing needs just great and I could then have the 27 rebuilt to my specs.

I was dealing with Three Rivers in Fla. on the one 26' ProAngler that they had. It is NOT the one that had a fly bridge on it as I asked that very question. We could not come to an agreement on price so it got away on me. It was a 2005 hull with a 2003 Honda 200 both new with 32 hrs.

I have a friend here in Alaska that has one made in the 90's and he uses it for chartering. It is a great fishing boat and performs well in rough seas. He has a 250 Yah. on it.

Another friend has a 26' C-Dory cabin cruiser, with a stand-up head, made in 1985. Powered by a 200 Yah. I have only seen one of this model. It has the same exact hull as the ProAngler. The difference is from the gunnel up.

There are pictures of both in my album (HIGH TIDE)on this site.

Actually there is another ProAngler in Seward, Alaska with an IO set-up. Have never seen that one.

I agree that they should make more of those for the serious fisherman. It is not a "frilly" boat for sure but so functional. It has a porta-potti, no stand-up head.
